Continue ReadingWe are super excited about the high school season starting up. We will be covering a ton of matches, tournaments, and highlighting school teams this year. It is shaping up to be a fantastic season with lots of new faces on Varsity teams. Some of the usual suspects that made the State Tourney are ready to make a return trip and there are a few others who could challenge for a spot. This article is going to highlight the MacArthur Highlanders who have some experienced talent back from a team who made the 5A State Tourney. They have a genuine shot to make it back again this season. Let’s meet a few of the players that have stood out to me so far.
Bailey Lowder Bailey Lowder 5'11" | OH MacArthur | 2024 State OK [2024] 5-10 Left Side (HS: MacArthur/Club: Oklahoma Charge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Bailey is currently ranked as our 4th best overall and 3rd best outside hitter prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for MacArthur High School and also club for Oklahoma Charge. We profiled her earlier in the year when we added her to the rankings and here is a little of what we stated, “When this young lady is able to see the block in front of her she has a great ability to turn on the ball and go straight down the line with tons of power. She has a lot of potential to get even better but we like what we see so far. Miss Lowder can score with off speed shots, tools off of the blockers hands or thread the seam with a hard driven attack. She is a very integral part of what is considered the best 5A team in Oklahoma right now. They have a legit shot at running the table for the rest of the year and Bailey’s skill-set is part of the reason why.” This season she is off to a great start with what I have seen. I have watched a few matches so far as they are currently in the Coweta tournament and looking very strong. This team will go as far as Bailey’s right arm will take them. She will be their leading scorer once again this year and is starting the season off on fire. I will be watching her very closely as she embarks on a fantastic junior season.
Alexis Williams Alexis Williams 6'0" | MB MacArthur | 2024 OK [2024] 5-11 Middle (HS: MacArthur/Club: Lawton Heat Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Alexis is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings, but is on my watch list to potentially be added with what I saw. She plays at MacArthur High School and club for the Lawton Heat Volleyball program. I loved how fast she looks at the net. Her lateral foot speed is something to marvel at for sure. Miss Williams looked very hungry to attack as she transitioned off of the net when I was watching. Athleticism runs deep on this team and she is one to watch out of the middle as she battles opponents very well both offensively and defensively at the net. I will be keeping my eye on her very closely to see if she can crack the rankings. Stay tuned for more on Alexis.
Alayna Vines Alayna Vines 6'1" | MB MacArthur | 2023 State OK [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: MacArthur/Club: The OC Exposure/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Alayna is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings, but will be added for sure once I update them in a few weeks. She plays at MacArthur High School and also for The OC Exposure club volleyball program. After watching a few matches this season, it is very apparent that Miss Vines is on a mission to have a great senior season. She looks very strong at the net and has been one of the top kill and blocks leaders in every match. Having senior talent like this will take the lady Highlanders very far. I love how she uses her upper body strength to seal the net from would be attackers. The ball rebounds quickly off of her press at the net. She has been scoring to the corners out of a quick tempo set from the middle at a fantastic pace so far and doesn’t look to slow down. Stay tuned to see where she falls on the rankings.
Kierstyn Doyle has been a great offensive threat from the right side. She has great hang time and provides solid production for this squad. Mariah Gaede’s hands have been super smooth as she releases the ball and she has never looked as accurate as she does now. Libero Kyara Roig has been playing some exceptional defense early on in the young season. This team has what it takes to be a force and rack up some wins and we will keep our eye very close on them.
