Camas vs Ridgefield
Reiter was all over the court defensively dealing with a Spudder offense that attacks with power from all positions. She has an advanced feel for a serve that’s going long and challenges a team to serve where she’s not, taking a big chunk of the court when she lines up. Her feet get set as the hitters swing, and she can make a move left or right to dig out the shot from any angle.
Highlights
It’s always impressive to see a player who works hard in all six rotations at outside hitter and is the team’s go-to attacker as well. It’s even more impressive when that sophomore is all of 6’5″ tall. Andrew is a skilled, offensive player who showed she can hit the deep line in this match. She plays balls defensively and in serve receive well with her hands, and in system was virtually automatic as an attacker. There is still room for her game to get more refined as she continues to play on the outside and develops varied shots, all the tools are there.
Speed and quickness are the calling card for this dynamic athlete, it was exciting to have a match with two exceptional liberos. She matched Reiter dig for dig, hanging in against big swings and popping up her attackers blocked shots time after time. A nasty flat float serve did damage, expect her to be in the running for all-sate honors this season.
Kendall Mairs

Mairs is even stronger and more confident than at last year’s state tournament, she dominated play at times from the outside hitter spot for Camas. The team rallies around her energy, feeding off a big kill from the sophomore star, who is an outspoken leader on the floor and an extension of the Papermakers coach. Playing middle back she is a fluid athlete who reads the game well and was available for a back row attack in and out of system. As an attacker will bring the heat at the right time and can cut roll, and tip with finesse; she’s a pure scorer.
Natalie Andrew

The match may have been summed up when the older Andrew blasted a shot down the line in the 5th set catching the Papermaker defender full in the face and tying the score at 6-6. The defender bounced up and play went on, showing the toughness of both squads. The senior outside was taking big swings all match and has a great high contact point.
Callie Curran dished out an impressive 64 assists for Ridgefield, and Avery Walunas and Kelli Kraft combined for a big 10 blocks for Camas.
The match was extremely tight, with the Spudders down 10-12 in the fifth set and holding serve. A series of errors and tough serving from Reiter sealed the win for Camas and brought the students onto the home court to celebrate.
