Ray Vance
A native of Frederick, Md., Vance was previously head coach at Bluefield College and New Jersey City University. He has also coached on the college level as an assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Union University, SUNY New Paltz and Frederick Community College. He has experience as a club volleyball coach with the Richmond Volleyball Club and VEER where he was head coach of various levels with great success. FCC was nationally-ranked twice during his tenure. He is the winningest coach in Bluefield Men's Volleyball and has winning records in his previous stops for men's volleyball. Vance coached boys varsity volleyball at Hermitage High School, JV Coach at Lee Davis and an Assistant Coach at Douglas Freeman in Richmond, Va., and JV baseball at Highland Springs High School, and worked to expand his business, Evolution Photo, VA. He is also the Chair for men's volleyball for the Mid-South Conference; the advocate for southwest Virginia and West Virginia for Motor MVB Grow the Game; Vice Chair of the NCCAA Men's Volleyball, and a presenter at the 2018 AVCA Convention. Vance began his collegiate playing career at SUNY New Paltz after starting his collegiate studies at Frederick Community College. After one year at SUNY New Paltz, he returned to Virginia and studied at Virginia Commonwealth, and completed his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Ashford University. He and his wife, Nicole, are parents of a son, Conner, and a daughter, Lexi.
