Q) What do you most look forward to in 2019?
A) “I look forward to the next level of volleyball which would be playing for Iowa Central. I look forward to the summer when I can see my dad in Wisconsin and even the sad moment when I have to leave for College. It’ll be sad but that just means when we (either family or friends) see each other again it’ll be even better.”
Q) Who or what would you most contribute your volleyball success to?
A) “I would actually contribute my success to my club. When I first started volleyball in 6th grade I wasn’t good at all but they helped me learn the basics then focus on the little things. Throughout the years I didn’t really think about playing in college until two years ago because one of my teammates ended up getting a scholarship. Seeing her get those accomplishments made me think about it and pushed me to be better, the only thing that was really stopping me in my mind was my height. Then a coach at our club that is also an assistant said a few other schools along with Iowa Central are interested. Without the help of the club I don’t think that I would be playing in college, it’s all thanks to them.”
Q) What is your most favorite thing about the club volleyball season?
A) “My favorite thing about the club volleyball season is seeing all the competition and winning those games that you’re supposed to be the underdog in. I love being in those moments where you take the new thing you learned from practice and actually use it in the game and are able to keep the ball in play and score. That’s when I know I’m improving for the better of the team. I’m going to miss club but it creates a different family, I develop new friends that I have to learn to play with and it’s those moments where they make that hard kill or that dig that nobody thought they could get, it’s awesome just seeing their smiles and the excitement if we score the point.”
Q) Favorite club tournament and why?
A) “Choosing a favorite tournament is pretty hard considering every year there’s new ones. I’d say the most common ones to me are the President’s Tournament, Regionals which is usually in Des Moines and Nationals which can be anywhere. Out of the three my favorite is probably Nationals because we all are shocked and really happy we made it. When we walk into the arena, wherever it’s hosted, we get the rush of adrenaline and we know it’s our last hoorah before the end of our season. It’s the time to go all out, which is exactly what happens. Everything seems to be amped up, our emotions, how we play and our excitement in our cheers, it’s always a moment of fun. When we’re done, it is sad but we all know we’re going to try our hardest to get back there.”
Q) Favorite way to waste time and why?
A) “One of my favorite ways to waste time would be watching Netflix all day with my mom then occasionally go out with friends. Sometimes you just have those days where you just want to chill out. I move from my bed to my living room chair and my Mom and I end up watching romance movies or Grey’s Anatomy.”
