Continue ReadingEarlier this week the Ultra Ankle JVA Watch List was released. There are over 30 athletes on the list from the Badger Region in the class of 2020 alone. In the article I wrote on the class of 2019 athletes on the list, I explained the process of making the list and the perks these athletes have now that they have been listed. The biggest of which is the opportunity to make the JVA All-National Team later this season.
I have broken down the athletes who made the list by position and commented on the athletes who I have had the opportunity to watch play so far this season!
Libero/DS
Kelsey Henderson – Libero/DS – Wisconsin Juniors – Prep Dig Rank #82
Kelsey is a fun player to watch! She has energy on the court and plays with everything she has on every play. Her passes are on point, and if she misses a ball, she is sure to correct her mistake and not allow the ball to hit the same spot twice.
Emily Klamik – Libero/DS – Revolution Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #119
Tahya Pozorski – Libero/DS – Motion – Prep Dig Rank #17
Tanya is easily one of the most talented defensive players in her class. She is fast, reads the ball well, and always manages to get a touch on the ball. Additionally, she can transition to the relative calm of serve receive to the scrappiness of block coverage to the speed of defense seamlessly.
Abigail Sheetz – Libero/DS – Revolution Volleyball Academy
Middle Blocker
Emily Alan – Middle Blocker – Wisconsin Juniors – Prep Dig Rank #22
What is so fun about watching Emily play is how much she mixes up her plays and shots. She is a talented hitter across the net and is a talented blocker as well. Her energy on the court is contagious.
Gaby Garcia – Middle Blocker – Revolution Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #84
Riley Kindt – Middle Blocker – Motion – Prep Dig Rank #47
Riley is as dynamic as she is powerful. She is a quick blocker and is fast in transition as well. Her plays bring a ton of energy to the court. Riley has good ball control and knows exactly when to turn on the heat or remained control.
Karina Leber – Middle Blocker – WI Juniors – Prep Dig Rank #7 – Committed to Colorado State
Karina has been playing at an extremely high level for several years now and she continues to grow and improve every time she is on the court. She is a smart player who can power a ball down and make it look easy.

Taylor Pagel – Middle Blocker – Wisconsin Ice VBC – Prep Dig Rank #50
Right Side Hitter
Melanie Monaco – Right Side Hitter – Wisconsin Juniors
Melanie is a great pin hitter who is great across the net. She sets the block consistently and has a lot of impact on the court.
Sydney Paulsen – Right Side Hitter – Milwaukee Sting – Prep Dig Rank #43
I had the opportunity to watch Sydney play at the Nike President’s Day Classic. She was fast and put up a powerhouse block on the right side. She was also a great option for her setter in out of system plays.
Summer Salettel – Right Side Hitter – Capital – Prep Dig Rank #166
Summer is extremely fun to watch. She has a good arm swing and places the ball well. She is good in transition and is an overall strong athlete.
Outside Hitter
Emma Braun – Outside Hitter – Milwaukee Sting – Prep Dig Rank #76
Emma is fast and has a great vertical. She switches up her shots when she plays and is a very passionate player. Her speed is a huge asset and she puts up a great block.
Kelsey Carrington – Outside Hitter – Milwaukee Sting – Prep Dig Rank #27
This 6’3 outside hitter is extremely dynamic. Kelsey’s approach is explosive and she has an impossibly high reach. She also puts up a nearly impenetrable block. As a pin hitter, she is extremely effective and is definitely an energizer on the court.
Olivia Dir – Outside Hitter – Wisconsin Juniors – Prep Dig Rank #13
Olivia is extremely talented in the back row. She also has a wicked line shot from the outside. On defense and serve receive she is fast and controlled. She gets hands on tough balls and makes them playable. She reads opponents well and is great at picking up tips across the court.

Brianna Konitzer – Outside Hitter – Revolution Volleyball Academy

Milla is just an awesome all-around player. She excels at every aspect of her position and continues to improve and learn the game better at every chance she gets.
Karlie McNabb – Outside Hitter – Capital – Prep Dig Rank #8 – Committed to Loyola
Karlie is ranked as one of the top athletes in her grade and she definitely plays at that level every time she is on the court. Karlie has a great vertical and uses it to her advantage. She is fast and has an even faster arm swing.
Rachel Roberts – Outside Hitter – Motion – Prep Dig Rank #56
Rachel is a powerful athlete. She is an all-around talented volleyball player. Her power on the pin is fun to watch. Rachel has a great understanding of her opponents and uses their weaknesses to her advantage.
Lauren Shields – Outside Hitter – Wisconsin Ice VBC – Prep Dig Rank #89
Jacqueline Smith – Outside Hitter – Wisconsin Ice VBC – Prep Dig Rank #21
Julia Treichel – Outside Hitter – Milwaukee Sting – Prep Dig Rank #15
If you want an incredible all-around athlete, it is Julia. She is an impressive hitter but also is talented on defense and serve receive. Julia can literally do it all. She is fun to watch and makes a ton of big, momentum-changing plays.
Setter
Jordan Armstrong – Setter – Capital – Prep Dig Rank #48
Jordan is fast with great hands. She knows her team well and runs an extremely fast offense which out-paces opponents. Jordan also has a powerful and well-placed tip that she uses sparingly but in the perfect moments. She is a strong blocker and tracks the ball well wherever she is on the court.

Claudia Buchholz – Setter – Revolution Volleyball Academy
Ellie Hartson – Setter – Wisconsin Ice VBC – Prep Dig Rank #101
Kayla Hovila – Setter – Revolution Volleyball Academy – Prep Dig Rank #123
Karlee Lois – Setter – Wisconsin Juniors – Prep Dig Rank #18
Karlee knows how to run a court. She sets the pace of her offense seemingly effortlessly and caters her sets to each of her respective hitters. She has a clear connection with each of her teammates and plays to their strengths.
Nicole Pozorski – Setter – Motion – Prep Dig Rank #34
I have had the opportunity to see Nicole play several times so far this season including at the Nike President’s Day Classic and the MKE Jamboree and she continues to impress me. Her speed, leadership, and raw talent are just amazing.

Isabelle Schauer – Setter – Milwaukee Sting – Prep Dig Rank #29
Isabelle is a very controlled setter and scrappy defender. She is very active on defense, which many setters try to avoid. No matter when she gets the ball, you know she will put up a consistent set.
