And, hey, as hard as Nebraska Elite 15 Coast had to work to get that top-10 finish, expect that they will have a lot to say about the accomplishment.
Coast came into the 193-team tournament as the #49 overall seed, but immediately exceeded expectations by winning all four of its pool play matches on Saturday. On Sunday, Coast scored wins in its first two matches before falling 19-25, 25-15, 15-11 to SoCal VBC 15-Aimee, putting the Nebraska Elite team into a round of playoffs to reach the championship bracket.
Coast won its first challenge match 25-14, 25-22 over ACT VBC 15-Henry and then closed out the day with a massive come-from-behind 23-25, 25-17, 18-16 victory over Viper 15-Kelsee to reach the championship bracket.
In the round of 16 in the championship bracket, however, Nebraska Elite 15 Coast ran back into SoCal VBC 15-Aimee and suffered its second loss to the team in as many days with a score of 25-9, 25-19. SoCal VBC 15-Aimee, the only team to beat Elite 15 Coast in the tournament, went on to win the title, dropping just two sets in its 11 matches.
Also in the 15 American division in Las Vegas, Nebraska West 151 went 6-2 and finished in a tie for 97th place.
In 16 Open, Nebraska Elite 16 2.0 went 5-3 in the tournament to finish in 30th place and in 16 American, Nebraska Elite 16 Ohana posted a record of 7-3 and finished tied for 21st place.
