Continue ReadingFor some of the Iowa clubs, it was the final chance to get on the court this club season, a bid to nationals on the line, or maybe a chance for momentum to head into the final part of the season. Throughout the weekend there were various players who were definitely among some that stood out and are definitely carrying their own momentum to finish out the spring, heading into the summer. The Sophomore year is a chance to really breakout and some of these athletes will definitely be doing that.
From a team standpoint, Iowa Rockets 15 Black finished second in the American Division, losing to Invasion out of the Kansas City area in the finals, overall for the weekend 15 Black went 7-2 with their only losses being to Ohana and Invasion.
Ohana 15U National finished 3rd overall in the American Division with a record of 7-1 with their lone loss coming to Iowa Rockets 15 Black in the semifinals. Ohana had four three set wins over the course of the weekend including two by the scores of 16-14 and 15-13.
New Players To Know:
Olivia Anderson of Ohana 15 NationalOlivia Anderson – Ohana 15U National
Anderson is electric out on the pin, really fun to watch with a live arm and the ability to score points. She was a big point scorer throughout the weekend who was also available in six rotations providing a solid first contact as well.
Molly Joyner – Adrenaline 15 Adidas
Joyner was another pin from Iowa this weekend who was able to put the ball to the floor. With an aggressive approach and solid swing she was able to find the open spot or use the block to her advantage. Samantha Harvey was another big swing with a lot of athleticism for Adrenaline this weekend as well.
Isabella Musick – Adrenaline 15 Adidas
Having a lefty on the right side just brings a different dynamic to defend. With Musick on the right side, her fast arm swing was able to give the defense a different look by really spreading the defense out allowing every hitter to have an open look in system.
Payton Wenck – Iowa Select 15 Mizuno Black
Iowa Select 15 Mizuno Black had a great finish in the top eight of the American Division before running into Iowa Rockets 15 Black. Wenck was solid in serve receive and extremely dependable in the backrow for Iowa Select which has an extremely balanced 15s group between the two teams.
Payton Naeve – Iowa Rockets 15 Black
Naeve was a key piece to the puzzle as a setter for Iowa Rockets 15 Black on their way to a 7-2 record and 2nd place finish out of 40 plus teams in their division. An extremely balanced attack that also featured the likes of Camryn Keith out of the middle and a solid first contact by libero Carlie Schroeder.
Kendall Anderson of IPVAAva Reynolds – IPVA 15 Black
Reynolds has quite a hop to her game, a springy six rotation outside hitter. IPVA is a dangerous team with multiple weapons and survived some close matches all weekend with two three set wins against Adrenaline and Kansas Jets. Reynolds was scoring points on the pin as well as from the backrow.
Kendall Anderson – IPVA 15 Black
Really solid all around athlete with a big swing and a major point scorer. Anderson and Reynolds are quite the 1-2 punch for IPVA, but have different styles. Anderson definitely attacks the defense with a big swing and is really tough to defend with a heavy ball.
Grace Graham – Iowa Select 15 Mizuno
Graham is a really dynamic athlete out of the middle for 15 Mizuno. She is able to get from pin to pin and can adjust really well to what the offense needs. On Saturday and Sunday, this team went 4-1 with their only loss coming to a team out of Miami.
Addison Poppe – Dubuque Elite 151 National
Poppe has athleticism and is a strong attacker for Dubuque Elite. This team competed in the USA Division defeating Show Me 15 Rox out of Missouri twice and was also was points away from defeating MN Select 15-2 twice with two three set losses.
