Where Are The Clubs Coming From For Weekend 2 of NLQ?
Sorting through AES and TM2 there are plenty of teams with abbreviations that make you think, hmmm, that’s an interesting name. Where are they from? For most athletes it’s just another name and number on the jersey, but for the coaches, parents, and volleyball geeks like myself I’m always curious about the name and where they are from. There are various forms of greatness with team names featuring “Elite”, “Premier”, and “Select”. However the forms of power words are tough to keep up with such as “Impact”, “Revolution”, “Beta”, and “Momentum”. Here is a quick guide to the 16 Open Division. Let me preface this by saying I chose 16 Open because I believed it was an adequate sample size, there are eight pools with four teams each. Pretty simple. I thought it would be a little easier than going through the 21 pools of 16 American (over 100 teams). Also, I know various areas can be a little territorial, even a local Minneapolis resident knows the difference between Minneapolis and St. Paul even though they are referred to as the “Twin Cities” or the “Cities” to the locals. For the teams in Texas, I know Plano is in the Dallas area and The Woodlands are North of Houston, but I wanted to give credit to where the address of the club is located. Apologies in advance. Let’s just get ready for a great weekend of volleyball, the final weekend of qualifiers – the last chance to punch the ticket to nationals.
