Continue ReadingAcross the Prep Dig States we are going to zoom in on particular areas of the state and putting a fun twist on some top players across the state. Today we are taking a tour across Route 66 in Missouri. From Southwest Missouri in Joplin through the rolling hills heading Northeast into St. Louis. This famous highway is more than just a few pit stops of historic monuments and beautiful views, but some top volleyball athletes across the state.
Willard High School
Just outside of Springfield is Willard High School who broke through in 2018 to make the state tournament with a pretty young team with two Sophomores who have already committed to Missouri State in Maddy Bushnell and Payton Van Veen. The Class of 2021 top prospects aren’t the only weapons for Willard as they will be returning other attackers in Emily Terry and Ashley Lasher. They will also be returning Senior setter Ashton Wildermuth who had over 900 assists last year in her Junior campaign.
Jeanie Juneweeranong – Joplin High School
Juneweeranong was tops in the backrow leading Joplin in with 272 digs, she will be returning for her Senior year for the Eagles along with Aubrey Ritter who was able to collect nearly 200 digs and 100 kills.
Camille “Birdie” Hendrickson – Logan-Rogersville High School
Henderson is one of Missouri’s most prized recruits and will be taking her game Florida to compete for Coach Mary Wise and the Gators. Just outside of Springfield, Hendrickson already has 1,000 career kills with one more year left to play. Every year has been extremely consistent with anywhere from 300-340 each season. Hendrickson will be looking to cap off her career by repeating as Class 3 state champions. She is joined by club teammate Claire Taylor who will be playing her college volleyball at Drury.
Ellee Douglas – Lebanon High School
Lebanon had a strong 2018 season with over 23 wins behind a strong Senior class. Douglas will be one of the big returners in the backrow. In 2018 she led the team with 247 digs with over seven per set.
Rebecca Janke – Rolla High School
Janke is a 6’3 Class of 2020 prospect who is part of the Rolla High School program. Rolla notched 25 wins last year while Janke had over 200 kills. With some Senior attackers being lost due to graduation Janke will definitely be a go to in 2019. Janke is also a standout on the basketball hardwood as well.
Madison Scheer with the swing for Rockwood Thunder.Lafayette High School and Eureka High School
These two programs are all too familiar with each other facing off multiple times in 2018. Eureka was crowned the Class 4 state champion of Lafayette in 2018. Eureka will have two big attackers returning in Madison Scheer, a 6’1 Class of 2022 outside hitter who can hit over around or split the block. Incredible power and athleticism. She plays her club ball as do most of these athletes for Eureka and Lafayette. Eureka will also return Senior to be, Hannah Feltz. Lafayette had over 30 victories last season, but will be without top attacker Staciana Stock due to graduation. The Lancers do return a trio of soon to be Seniors in Allison Beaton, Brooke Borgmeyer, and Fiona Lazaaretti who will be looking to claim the top spot in 2019.
