There are athletes where setting is their main position, but they can also get it done as an attacker as well. Extremely multidimensional and all around players. Some have benefitted from the beach game, others just have been students of the game since they’ve been able to play volleyball. Here are some setters who can do a little bit of everything.
MosherBrooke Mosher – FC Elite – Waterloo
Committed to Illinois
Mosher is the top recruit out of the Class of 2021. She ran a 5-1 for the FC Elite 18 Navy team who qualified for USAV 18 Open this past club season, but she can also swing from either pin as well. In the 2018 high school season, Mosher had over 500 kills and 400 assists. Those are video game like numbers in volleyball. She’s involved in every play, she has a sixth sense of finding the open spot on the court no matter what position she is in, definitely one of the best all around players this state has seen.
Ella Foti – Capital Volleyball Academy – Edgewood
Committed to Marquette
Foti was full strength this past club season and it was something to see her run the show for Capital 17 Adidas. Long, athletic, extremely smooth with her footwork and she is able to play well above the net. This upcoming season Edgewood will have plenty of options with Foti and setter Caroline Craig. Foti might be able to swing on the pin with the likes of Craig setting. Should be an exciting season for Edgewood to come back to state prominence.
Josie Halbleib – Capital Volleyball Academy – Sun Prairie
Josie Halbleib can swing or set for Sun Prairie.Halbleib is a solid two way player where she is left handed and can jump to attack or jump to set. She was a key cog for the Cardinals in 2018 where she was swinging on the right side and setting as well. Halbleib is also able to put up a solid block as well. She will be a versatile and effective player who will be key to get SP back to the Resch.
Morgan Yenter – Milwaukee Sting – Oshkosh West
Yenter was able to get valuable experience playing for Sting 16 Gold which was in the final eight of the Gold Division for 16 Open at USAV. A 5’10 left-handed setter, Yenter is physical at the net where she can attack or put up a hittable ball. She will be working closely with two of the top middles in the Class of 2021 in Natalie Johanknecht and Randi Welhoefer at Oshkosh West.
Katelyn Lefler – Motion MVP – Sussex Hamilton
Committed To Illinois State
Lefler is one of the more recent commits from the Class of 2021, committing to Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Conference. For MVP, she has been able to swing from both pins as well as set. This upcoming season for Hamilton she will have opportunities to do the same. Lefler can also get above the net and be a strong blocker as well.
Janelle Stuempfig – Milwaukee Sting – Sussex Hamilton
Hamilton has two really solid options to the table when it comes to setters. Stuempfig and Lefler could line up opposite of each other and probably hit and set for each other. Steumpfig is long and athletic where she can get her hands high to set the quick or push it to the pin. An All Conference player her Sophomore year, she will be even more dynamic in her Junior year.
Kiersten Kraus – FC Elite – Neenah
Committed to Kent State
Kraus is fresh off committing to Kent State, a Division 1 school out of the MAC in Kent, Ohio. Kraus sets during the club season, but last year for Neenah High School she registered nearly 250 kills on the pin. This upcoming high school season she could run the show as a setter or score points with her swing as well. Kraus is one of the most dynamic all around athletes in the Class of 2021.
