Outstanding Performances for the tournament
Name Yr, Ht, Pos, Team, College
Amai Owolabi, 2020, 5’10, RS, Mother McAuley, 1st Alliance VBC, Embry Riddle
In two matches in the Gold bracket, Owolabi tallied 19 kills, 3 blocks as the Mighty Macs won the tournament. She’s one of the nice surprises this season growing into the expectations as Mother McAuley are on a winning streak…finally.
Connie Lebel, 2021, OH, Mother McAuley
Complimenting Owolabi’s numbers in the Gold bracket, Lebel added 19 kills, 19 digs in the semis and finals. As for mentioned, the Mighty Macs are returning to form.
Amy Schwem
More than just another all-tournament selection for Schwem, she runs the offense that is turning people’s heads. Lemont seems to be on path to fair better than ever in 3A come time for states.
Amanda Rice
It’s good to see Lemont’s hitters to start getting recognition as Rice made the Rich East All Tournament team. Lemont, as a team is gelling and with Rice having the ability to get points quickly out of serve receive will be the difference for them.
Jackie Yau, 2020, MH, Loyola Academy
Plays with a passion and attacks the ball well in the middle, Yau is one of the few middles that thrive on getting the ball. The offense for Loyola runs through Yau.
London Hatch, 2021, S, Marian Catholic
Marian Catholic played well this weekend and thanks to Hatch, she was one of the reasons why. The team’s quarterback, the junior setter has 253 assists for the season. Hatch adds a team leading 17 service aces to her resume.
Briana Brown, 2021, 5’11, OH, Marian Catholic
In 31 sets, Brown has 103 kills, averaging 3.3 kills per set. She also leads the team defensively with 118 digs. THe steady play sets a tone that Marian Catholic will need to continue to be successful through 2019. With the win over Loyola Academy for third place, sealed Brown’s name to the All-Tournament team.
