Mercy Volleyball Tournament – Saturday at Michigan Elite
The top-ranked Marlins are bringing a loaded field to Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy on Saturday for what should be a great event. Along with Mercy (No. 1 D1), this tournament includes a number of D1 ranked teams like Lowell (No. 5 D1), Ann Arbor Skyline (No. 8 D1), Oxford (No. 10 D1), Grand Blanc (No. 12 D1), Lake Orion (No. 15 D1), Bloomfield Hills (No. 20 D1) and Utica Eisenhower (No. 22 D1). The Marlins may have the best ranking, but are still without Miss Volleyball finalist Jess Mruzik, so this will be a big test for the squad against a lot of the best teams in the state.
Novi Tournament – Saturday at Novi
The Novi Tournament has drawn in a strong group of teams from different areas of the state and this weekend will be no different. Along with the host Novi (No. 11 D1), this field also includes Grand Haven (No. 6 D1), Saline (No. 9 D1), Brighton (No. 7 D1), Northville (No. 13 D1), Stoney Creek (No. 14 D1), DeWitt (No. 16 D1), Clarkston (No. 17 D1) and Portage Central (No. 24 D1). This will be a very competitive tournament that will give a lot of D1 teams a real feel of where they are at right now in the big picture.
EK Classic Volleyball Invite – Saturday at East Kentwood
The Falcons host a smaller, but talent-heavy tournament this weekend. This field includes Grand Rapids Christian (No. 1 D2), Lakewood (No. 2 D2), Hudsonville (No. 4 D1), Rockford (No. 25 D1) and current HM teams like Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Forest Hills Central. There’s some really exciting matchups that should come in bracket play and Grand Rapids Christian will have its eyes on avenging its lone loss to Hudsonville.
LHS Volleyball Invitational – Saturday at Battle Creek Lakeview
A nice mix of programs from different divisions will come together in Battle Creek this weekend for the LHS Invitational. Battle Creek Lakeview sits just outside our D1 rankings right now and can make a big splash if it does well against a field that includes Bedford (No. 23 D1), Cadillac (No. 5 D2), Notre Dame Prep (No. 9 D2), Schoolcraft (No. 1 D3), Bronson (No. 5 D3), Battle Creek St. Philip (No. 2 D4). Schoolcraft has been looking great, but has some big tests in this event, including a Notre Dame Prep team that had one bad quad, and has been perfect otherwise.
