Some will stay close to home, while others will travel across the country. No matter the destination, Kentucky high school volleyball provides solid training and high-level competition. Here are a few players I’ve had the honor watching, and am looking forward to seeing before they head off to their college careers.
Anna De Beer – Assumption
Watching De Beer her 15s and 16s year for KIVA was something special. With her ability to lockdown on defense with her passing and how she can just find the open spot on the court with a variety of shots, she has all the intangibles and will be a great fit at the next level playing for Louisville. She will continue the pipeline of Assumption players that includes Alexa Hendricks and Alexis Hamilton.
Taylor Trammell with the block out of the middle.Taylor Trammell – Henry Clay
Trammell is a force on the net offensively and defensively. The future Purdue Boilermaker has the athleticism and physicality to compete in the Big Ten. Playing above ten feet, getting her hands across the net to alter the shot of the outside hitter, Trammell also brings a heavy swing to power through a split or find the open spot on the court. With continued training under Coach Dave Shondell, Trammell will be scary good at the next level.
Grace Ward – Notre Dame
Ward has been dishing and finding plenty of open attackers this season for Notre Dame, averaging over 10 assists per set, but Wards overall all-around game is what is really impressive. Whether its setting or playing as a defensive specialist, Ward has the IQ to contribute for her squad in multiple ways.
Rylee Rader – Assumption
Rader is one of the top middles in the state and even one of the tops in the country. Dynamic, physical, and a blend of finesse and power to work laterally while still being completely under control. Teaming up with DeBeer for their high school and club success at KIVA, Rader will be heading to the Big Ten and playing for Ohio State, she will be across the net from Trammell of Henry Clay who will be at Purdue.
Addison Foote – North Oldham
Foote has been a mainstay for PNK on the pin where she can do a little bit of everything. An electric outside hitter, Foote is able to score points from anywhere on the court no matter what rotation she is in. She will head to VCU, which has been a perennial NCAA contender in the A10 along with Dayton.
