The Creighton Blue Jays had one former Illinois grad in Benet’s former setter Ally Eekeren. Although she sat out sets one and two, the freshman played in set three of the rout over the DePaul Blue Demons. Eekeren led Benet in 2018-19 to finishing in third place with a 36-6 overall record.
Despite losing in three straight sets, DePaul had Illinois talent parcelled throughout their lineup. The following Illinois talent are members of the DePaul program.
Isabelle Banez – a junior libero from Chicago, is a 2017 graduate from Northside College Prep. This season, she was a three-time Big East Player of the Week. In the match, Banez had 8 digs and 3 assists.
Claire Anderson – a 6’0 senior outside hitter from St. Charles, Ill, is a 2016 graduate from St. Charles North HIgh School. In three sets, Anderson had 4 digs, 6 kills and 6 points.
Katie Dolan – a 6’0 senior setter from Rockford, Ill, is a 2016 graduate from Rockford HIgh School. In three sets, Anderson had 4 digs, 6 kills and 6 points.
Mireya Garcia a sophomore Defensive specialist, did not play in this match. She graduated in 2018 from OPRF and is from Oak Park, Il.
