The pool of teams is a who’s who of volleyball powers in Class 1 and 2 in the western part of Missouri. It will be a good one. Let’s first look at who which outsides and middles will turn heads on Saturday.

Outsides
Macey Damgar – Savannah
Damgar is having great career at Savannah. The junior was a first-team all-MEC pick for the Savages last season. In 2019, she is averaging 2.8 kills a set. Following in the footsteps of her dad as an avid CrossFit fan, Damgar also made the teenage division of the CrossFit games in 2017 and 2018.
Morgan Irvin – Midway
As a sophomore, Irvin was just one of two sophomores on the All-WEMO team. She has followed her efforts in 2018 nicely, with 2.8 kills a set so far this season. The junior is hitting .245, has 178 digs and 14 aces. She will be a big factor in Midway’s success on Saturday against some stellar competition.
Aleena Peterson – Lutheran High
Peterson – courtesy Max PrepsTo say Peterson is versatile would be an understatement. Peterson leads Lutheran statistically in most categories: Kills (102), serve receive (197), and aces (43). She is second on the team in digs with 151. The junior was named to the Class 1 All-State Team as a sophomore and hopes to get over the state sectionals hump at the state tournament this season.
Middles
Kennedy McGinnis – Oak Grove
McGinnis has had a nice career in the middle for Oak Grove. Her junior season ended in heartbreak, losing in the district final to Pleasant Hill, but with the numbers she’s putting up this season, perhaps the tide can turn. McGinnis is hitting .232 and has 20 blocks in 30 sets played. Saturday will be a great measuring stick to see where the Panthers are at this point in the season.
Juliann Smith – Bishop LeBlond
Smith is a special athlete. The outside is all-conference selection in volleyball and basketball, but she’s extremely talented in soccer, where this spring she was an all-state selection. That’s not to take away from her volleyball prowess, where she leads the team in kills with 94 and is hitting .280 on the year.
Serena Sundell – Maryille
No list of middles would be complete without Serena Sundell. In 2018, the junior averaged 3.5 kills per set and hit .261. She also had 54 blocks and 280 digs. Sundell has Division I offers pouring in for basketball from the likes of Saint Louis University, Indiana State and more.
