With the players its due to return, Mercy figures to be the near the top once again when the 2020 seasons in August.
Both Eleanor Beavin (DS/L) and Elena Scott (S) are poised to take the floor for Mercy as seniors in the 2020 season.
Beavin has committed to the University of Kentucky. The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) has named Beavin the state’s top defensive player two straight years. In 42 matches for Mercy in the 2019 season, Beavin recorded 679 digs.
Scott, who has committed the University of Louisville, registered 995 assists in 41 matches for the Jaguars.
Both Beavin and Scott have already reached multiple milestones.
Along with Beavin and Scott, Allison Holloway (MB/OPP), Jaymison Summers (MB) and Fallan Lanham (OH/DS) are seniors-to-be for the Jaguars.
The 6th Region champion, Mercy concluded the 2019 high school volleyball season 36-7. Assumption shut out the Jaguars 3-0 in the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament title match, winning 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.
Tradition-rich Mercy captured a state title in 2014.
Several members of the Mercy’s 2019 state runner-up squad are in the process of making the transition to a club team and will continue to compete at various times throughout the high school offseason.
