The job of a defensive specialist can be especially tough. Competition takes a big jump during the sophomore year. Liberos are often asked to move up and pass serves and hits from bigger, stronger, and older athletes. Our rankings for the class of 2022 have been recently updated and below are a handful of our favorite defensive specialist (along with a a few reasons why they made the list!)
Simara Amador Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”]
- Plays for 16-1 Northern Lights club team
- excellent student athlete: 4.12 GPA
- Earned a medal at 2016 USAV Beach Nationals with Mia Kohoutek
- maintained her position on PrepDig’s Rankings #7
Kylie Stremmel Champlin Park
- 5’9”
- part of MN Select 16-1’s strong line-up; teammates include Wayzata’s Ella Voegele, McKenna Leier and Sierra Moore
- also plays the outside position
Cassie Sieling 5‘9’‘ Bloomington Jefferson Vital Volleyball
- at 5‘9’‘ typically she plays right side, but transitioning to Libero
- Twin sister, Ellie Sieling, play competitive sand doubles
- 2019 high school game high 29 digs and 17 kills
