Here’s a look at 10 Louisville 17s to watch.
Eleanor Beavin: The state’s top defensive player, Beavin has committed to the University of Kentucky. Beavin is a 5-6 junior libero from Mercy Academy. During the 2019 high school season, Beavin, who currently excels for Union 17-1, led Mercy Academy, finishing with 679 digs, 116 assists and 89 aces as part of a state runner-up finish.
Brielle Boudreau: A 5-10 junior opposite hitter from Assumption High School, Boudreau competes for Union 17-1. Boudreau logged varsity minutes for her high school team during its third consecutive state championship campaign. She will be looking to make a bigger impact for her prep program in 2020.
Alyssa Eaton: A 5-8 junior setter from Assumption High School, Eaton competes for KIVA 17 White. Eaton helped to lead the Rockets to the 2019 KHSAA state title, recording a team-high 634 assists as well as 120 digs. Eaton remains uncommitted but is receiving interest from multiple college programs.
Crew Hoffmeier: A 5-6 junior defensive specialist from Assumption High School, Hoffmeier has committed to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Hoffmeier competes for KIVA 17 Red and is looking to build momentum for her senior season.
Sequoia Hunt: Committed to Northern Kentucky University (NKU), Hunt is a 5-11 junior middle hitter from Oldham County High School. Hunt, who competes for KIVA 17 Red, made the commitment to NKU early in her high school career. She led her high school team throughout an impressive junior season.
Emma Kaelin: A 5-10 junior setter from Providence High School in neighboring Indiana, Kaelin helped to pace her prep team in 2019. Kaelin, who competes for Union 17-1, posted 929 assists, 162 digs, 99 kills and 46 aces in 100 sets during the 2019 high school season. Kaelin has committed to Indiana State University.
Bree Martin: Among the uncommitted players for KIVA 17 Red, Martin is a 5-7 defensive specialist from New Albany High School in neighboring Indiana. Martin produced as both a libero and outside hitter for her high school squad throughout 2019.
Maddie Mason: A 5-7 junior setter from Assumption High School, Mason competes for Union 17-1. Mason appeared in nearly 20 matches for the Rockets during the 2019 high school season, which ended with a third straight state championship.
Karly McNeil: One of the top players for 8th Region champion North Oldham High School, McNeil is a 5-7 junior defensive specialist. McNeil recorded a team-high 412 digs, along with 60 assists and 32 aces during the 2019 high season. Now, McNeil is competing for KIVA 17 White.
Lizzie Papalia: A 5-6 junior defensive specialist from Kentucky Country Day, Papalia recorded 207 assists, 192 digs, 35 aces and 67 kills during the 2019 prep season. Papalia is competing for KIVA 17 White.
