I recently learned of their shoe drive for Samaritan’s Feet. This is a program that helps provide millions of shoes for those in need all over the world. Their story started with a Nigerian child who didn’t have shoes until he was 9 years old and he stated, “it changed his life.” Their mission is to:
Inspire hope through the gift of shoes, the act of washing feet, and encouragement to those who need it most!
They believe the shoes address the issues of poverty, domestic needs, and foot-borne diseases. To learn more about their story and this great cause, see the link below.
M1 took this idea and joined in the giving. Consider all the dollars spent the first month of the new club season at M1 and others with the average volleyball shoe costing $80-$120. The players and families demonstrated their understanding of their blessing by sharing, purchasing and donating new shoes to others. They didn’t stop there; sending gently used jerseys they no longer needed in addition to the shoes. They showed their willingness to spread goodwill and their love of volleyball to a community who otherwise may not get to enjoy the game.
Thank you M1 volleyball family for being a great example of how volleyball is so much more than a game and inspiring a message of hope among athletes everywhere!
