Here’s a look at three state leaders due back on the floor for their prep team in the 2020 high school volleyball season.
Olivia Mitchell (Caldwell County): A force at the net, Mitchell was the leader for 2nd Region member Caldwell County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. Mitchell, the 2nd Region Player of the Year, led the state in kills. In 110 sets, Mitchell compiled 625 kills. She averaged 5.68 kills for her high school team. Now, Mitchell has turned her focus to club season. Mitchell, a junior outside hitter/middle hitter/defensive specialist, competes for VAPR (Volleyball Academy of the Pennyrile Region).
Meg Gore (Greenwood): Gore, a sophomore setter, paced Greenwood throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. One of Kentucky’s top high school setters, Gore led the state in assists. In 112 sets, Gore recorded 1,249 assists. She averaged 11.15 assists for her high school team, which captured the 4th Region championship.
MaKenna Lefevers (Bell County): An underrated player, Lefevers helped to lead Bell County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season. Lefevers led the state in digs. In 93 sets, Lefevers recorded 736 digs. In addition to averaging 7.91 digs, Lefevers, a junior outside hitter, finished tied for second in the state in service aces. The Bell County standout added 165 aces during the 2019 season.
