Thirty Badger Region teams headed down to Saint Louis last weekend. Several finished in the gold bracket and even fewer have the honor of being named to the All-Tournament Team. It should be noted that at this time the 17 Premier and 17 Club All-Tournament Teams have not been released.
Maddy McGath – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black – 15 Open
Maddy is a powerful middle who is consistent on both offense and defense. She is very smart and can place her hits well. Her confidence on the court and sheer athletic talent makes her dangerous in the middle. She has the ability to make big kills and is not afraid to make risky plays in big moments.
Angelica Refinski – Milwaukee Sting 15 White – 15 Premier
Angelica is a talented outside hitter with a knack for finding holes on her opponents’ court. She has a strong, high arm swing and the ability to place the ball makes her dangerous to opponents as she seems to avoid the block easily. She is also a strong defender and picks up a lot of tips on defense.
Alex Kiel – Midwest Penguins 15 Black – 15 Premier
Alex is another great all-around athlete. She has an insanely powerful arm that is nearly unstoppable. On top of a fast and impactful arm swing, she has a great vertical that gives her a wide array of shots to choose from. She is also a strong defensive player out of the middle back. She reads the court well and rarely lets a ball hit the ground without touching it.
Catherine Yunker – Epic 15 Black – 15 Club
Catherine is the type of player who makes an impact every time she steps on the court. As a setter, she needs to be aggressive and consistent, of which she is both. She is a leader on this team and plays very consistently. Her sets are consistent and her hitters work well with her. Catherine is a great setter with a lot of potential.
Sammie Seib – Wisconsin Juniors 17-1 – 17 Open
Sammie is a huge force on the net. She is a powerful go-to hitter for this already strong Wisconsin Juniors team. Sammie is a great all-around athlete who is consistent at the net and on serve receive. She is a fierce athlete who works hard on every play and always gives an all-out effort for balls.
Jenna Barrette – Epic 18 Black – 18 Club
Jenna is a fierce defender in the back row. She makes some truly incredible defensive saves while also providing consistency and great court awareness for her team. Jenna has an awesome ability to read the ball and set her offense up for success on both defense and serve receive.
These awesome athletes and their teams played very impressive volleyball throughout the Nike Prez Day Classic in Saint Louis. They brought intensity and consistency to the court every time they entered the gym.
