There is something to be said for playing for your local town, community and high school. Let’s look at the pin hitters of 2021 doing it all for hometown pride.
Brooklyn Borum Brooklyn Borum 6'0" | OH Sterling | 2021 State IL , 2021, OH, Sterling, Fusion, University of Virginia
There’s no doubt that Sterling is a leader for another IHSA 3A state title and Brook is one of the reasons they have a chance for that success. It’s easy to put her into that rarified air as one of the top pin hitters returning for the 2021 season.
Chloe Gill, 2021, OH, OPRF, First Alliance
With all eyes on OH Natalie Chizzo Natalie Chizzo 6'3" | OH Oak Park River Forest | 2020 State IL , Chloe runs under the radar as an outside hitter to watch. Next year she will have to raise her gameplay to be the game finisher the Huskies need. She passes and has great control of her swing to be the goto player they need.
Madi Malone Madi Malone 6'0" | OH Newark | 2021 State IL , 2021, 6’0/OH, Newark, Adversity , University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Newark has every intention of returning for a third straight state championship and Madi will be a part of it. One of the returning stars of this team she has the power and speed to be a big-time hitter beyond high school. With 506 kills for Newark, there’s no reason she can’t beat that total in 2020.
Esma Ajanovic Esma Ajanovic 6'1" | RS Niles North | 2021 IL , 2021, 6’1/RS-OH, Niles North, Adversity , Loyola University of Chicago
An outstanding pin hitter, Esma was a leader for Niles North and should do more of the same in 2020. A solid blocker, she also has a solid point of attack, she reaches high and has the ability to put the ball down.
Lizzie Chiesa, 2021, OH, Wheaton Warrenville South
Lizzie played on a senior-laden Wheaton Warrenville South team that placed second in the IHSA 4A Division. She gained valuable playing experience as a starter and will carry that into the 2020 season.
