Emma Halter Emma Halter 5'5" | DS/L Roncalli | 2022 State #60 Nation IN , 5-5, DS, Team Indiana 16 Elite (16-1), Roncalli High School
This is my favorite libero in this class. She’s started on Roncalli’s varsity since her freshman season, and continues to run the defensive show on whatever team she’s on. In my observation, her consistent, coach-like behavior keeps every back line in check, and Emma is usually called upon to take half the court in serve receive. This is a no-brainer; Emma is the real deal.
Rory Powers Rory Powers 5'6" | DS/L Yorktown | 2022 State IN , 5-6, DS, Munciana 16 Ninjas (16-1), Yorktown High School
Emma McMahon Emma McMahon 5'5" | DS/L Bellmont | 2022 State IN , 5-5, DS, Munciana 16 Ninjas (16-1), Bellmont High School
Taryn Sallee Taryn Sallee 5'5" | DS/L Yorktown | 2022 State IN , 5-5, DS, Munciana 16 Ninjas (16-1), Yorktown High School
I’ve bunched these three together for a few reasons. First, they all have the potential to take the libero jersey on any cub team in the state, if they wished, but they chose to be on the same team, sharing time. Second, all three of these kids are a carbon copy of each other; quick, anticipatory, excellent ball control and relentlessness that typifies Munciana DS’s. Third, they’ve been part of the Munciana pipeline for years. Munciana, far and away, trains the most and the best defensive specialists in the state. (Reminder: the starting liberi for Nebraska and Ohio State just finished their freshman years at each school. Guess which program produced those starters?)
Cadence Notter Cadence Notter 5'6" | DS/L Covenant Christian | 2022 State IN , 5-6, DS, Circle City 16 Purple (16-1), Covenant Christian School
The best pure passer on the best all-around 16s team in the state can’t go unmentioned. Cadence is from a small school on the west side of Indianapolis, and is easily the engine that makes Scott McQueen’s team go. Always in the right spot at the right time, and frequently relied upon to take more space in serve receive, Cadence has risen to multiple challenges, as 16 Purple has won multiple tournaments already in this truncated club season. It won’t be long before this kid is noticed at a regional and national level.
