Along with the play of 15-1 Adidas, other Legacy programs also had some standout performances down south.
15-1 Adidas runs the table again
The young squad moved to 4-for-4 on championships in 2020 by going 10-0 this past weekend and dropping just two sets along the way. The nation’s top-ranked 15’s squad looked especially strong in the championship, earning a 25-19, 25-21 win over South Coast Volleyball.
Harper Murray Harper Murray 6'2" | OH Skyline | 2023 State #2 Nation MI posted another impressive weekend, racking up a team-high 78 kills as a dominant outside. Rebecca Apsey Rebecca Apsey 6'1" | RS Groves | 2023 MI continues to be a perfect compliment on the right side. She finished the event with 64 kills and 10 blocks. Nina Horning Nina Horning 6'5" | OH Lake Orion | 2023 State #50 Nation MI , another outside option for Legacy, posted 47 kills while middle Laurece Abraham Laurece Abraham 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2023 State #111 Nation MI had 29 kills with 14 blocks. Middle Abby Reck chipped in with 32 kills and six blocks. Erin Kline Erin Kline 6'2" | S Mercy | 2023 State #123 Nation MI was on point at setter, running the offense while picking up 10 aces and 12 blocks.
In the back Kaitlyn Hoffman, Allison Berent Allison Berent 5'7" | DS/L Notre Dame Prep | 2023 State #187 Nation MI and Sarah Vellucci Sarah Vellucci 6'0" | OH Novi | 2023 State #97 Nation MI controlled the defense, as Legacy passed a 2.3 for the entire tournament.
15-1 Adidas will be back in action on March 20-22 for the MidEast National Qualifier in Indianapolis.
16-1 Adidas wins Open Silver Bracket
Legacy 16-1 Adidas was in the mix this past weekend as well, going 6-2 for the weekend to place ninth and win the Silver Bracket of the Open Division. Their lone two losses were to H Skyline 16 Black and MadFrog 16’S N Green. 16-1 Adidas closed out the weekend with a 25-19, 24-26, 15-10 win over Club Unite 16 Eric.
Leading the team this past weekend with outside Sydney Tomlak Sydney Tomlak 5'11" | OH Stoney Creek | 2022 State #116 Nation MI , who continues to make big strides as a six-rotation option. She takes on a lot of passing on defense while also is the go-to hitting option at the net. In the middle, Cari Bohm Cari Bohm 6'4" | MB Ann Arbor Skyline | 2022 State #39 Nation MI is also making big strides. The 6’4” Class of 2022 option led the squad this weekend in blocks and hitting percentage.
Audrey Brown Audrey Brown 6'0" | OH Seaholm | 2022 State MI also looked strong on the outside while finishing at a high percentage, while Josie Bloom Josie Bloom 5'6" | DS/L Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State #150 Nation MI anchored the back row at libero and continued to play at a high level.
18-1 Adidas wins Open Bronze Bracket
Legacy 18-1 Adidas also put up a top-10 finish this past weekend, placing ninth in the Open by winning the bronze bracket in Orlando. Legacy went 7-1 for the weekend, suffering only a 26-24, 25-19 loss to OVA 18 Black. The team wasn’t quite at full strength, as RS Lauren King Lauren King 5'10" | MB West Bloomfield | 2020 State MI (VCU) was out due to a concussion and libero Kennedy Dolmage Kennedy Dolmage 5'10" | DS/L Lutheran North | 2020 State MI (Oakland) was fighting off an illness. Still the team came away with a 25-23, 25-20 win over OT 18 T Dexter in the bronze bracket final.
Outside Kendall Murray Kendall Murray 6'2" | MB Ann Arbor Skyline | 2020 State MI (Michigan) had a big weekend, leading the team in kills while being one of the tops in passing efficiency alongside DS Paige Gallentine Paige Gallentine 6'1" | DS/L Charyl Stockwell | 2020 State MI (Tennessee-Chattanooga). Middle Ellie Ruprich (South Carolina) hit .447 for the weekend and led the team in blocks while setter Alexa Rousseau Alexa Rousseau 6'3" | S Bloomfield | 2020 State MI (Northwestern) ran the offense and led the team in assists.
