One of Cotton’s best targets is Cyr, who provides a great presence in the middle with ability to score through a heavy arm. With the right timing and spacing she can generate kills with good range in her location. She works hard to make herself available in her block-to-transition work and is equally effective in from and behind the setter. She also shows good patience and eyework when blocking that allows her to get in front of attackers to slow them down.

She has good slow to fast approach work as she gets her feet to the ball well, which allows her to be balanced upon leaving the floor. With good size, elevation, and reach she is a handful for opposing defenses as she can score in a variety of ways without compromising much the pace she can bring. Rhoda is such an intriguing prospect as she has such great athleticism yet still displays some raw qualities. As a 2022 prospect she has plenty of time to shore up some of the movement and timing. Competing with MN Select is certainly a huge bonus for her given the quality of training, level of play around her, and the competition schedule that does not shy away from playing the best. With a jump touch over 10 feet, plus her quickness and length, she is among elite company in Minnesota regarding these athletic qualities. Her contact point is high and her ability to get up and over when blocking is very imposing. Keep an eye on her.

– 5’7 | S | SMV 16-1 | Prep Dig #40
Winchell’s stock has risen well given her skill set and the competitiveness she has shown through the high school season at Cannon Falls and into club with SMV. Another athlete that maximizes her physical tools well, she shows great command of the court vocally and physically. Her movement is quick and balanced while her hand position is consistent upon contact making her difficult to read on the defensive side. She sets a nice moderate tempo through both pins that can create gaps for her hitters. Defensively, although 5’7, she can elevate enough to put up a block that can disrupt opposing attackers.
