ROUND 1
SETTERS
Peyton Neff, 2021, North Platte Vs Olivia Poppert Olivia Poppert 6'0" | S St. Paul | 2022 State NE , 2022, St. Paul
Peyton Neff, North PlattePeyton Neff – At 5’10 this Bulldog can play about any position you need her. Starting her high school career as a freshman in a 6-2, Neff has graduated to a 5-1 for her high school team and a hitter on her Nebraska Juniors club team. With 763 assists last season, she also contributed 221 digs and 97 kills. North Platte will need to reload a couple of positions, but they have a good core back especially in the passing department which should allow Neff to set in system often.
Olivia Poppert Olivia Poppert 6'0" | S St. Paul | 2022 State NE – Poppert makes the setting position look easy, but she also has a talented core group of players around her. The 6’0 multi-sport athlete sophomore had 819 assists, 46 aces, 157 digs, and 31 blocks in 2019. St. Paul had the Cinderella season last year not losing a set until the state tournament. With only graduating 2 seniors, they look to another similar season.
LIBEROS
Bre Skala, 2021, Omaha Skutt Catholic Vs Estella Zatechka Estella Zatechka 5'8" | DS/L Elkhorn South | 2022 State #54 Nation NE , 2022, Elkhorn South
Bre Skala – Sometimes the passing and digs get out shadowed by huge monstrous kills, but this libero is where it all starts on the powerful Skutt Catholic squad. With 399 serve receptions and 510 digs in 2019, this 5’6 libero is the one that gets the ball where it needs to go with the first contact.
Estella Zatechka Estella Zatechka 5'8" | DS/L Elkhorn South | 2022 State #54 Nation NE – I can see these thoughts take place on the court – Hitter: “Oh, a great set, I can see the seam, going to get a kill.” And, wait for it… Estella: “Nope, denied again,” as her quickness and competitive spirit doesn’t let the ball hit the floor and gets a pass straight to the well. The 5’9 Zatechka dug the ball 677 times and received 515 serves. The Storm graduates three seniors and looks to be in contention in 2020 with a lot of talent returning. Pictured above.
