Johnson, an Esko H.S. product, is one to take a good long look at as she can score points effectively as a left side and middle and through a variety of attack points and tempos. She has good range in her offensive arsenal to go up and swing aggressively off of two feet while also capable of good heat and movement off of one foot behind the setter. She looks comfortable from both positions so it is difficult to determine in which she excels more. She has good size and athleticism as a multi-sport athlete and contributes to her team’s effort from all over the floor. She gets to opposing well hitters with a dynamic block move while also showing good range in the back row defensively. Versatility is a great way to describe Johnson and she will be a nice addition at the next level.

Tutak is fun to watch. She has good elevation and their is an authoritative quality to her offensive production as a middle. At 5’10 she is undersized for this position but because she jumps well and has good offensive mechanics she is quite effective. Although she does not kill the ball in the shallow part of the court, she shows strong volleyball I.Q. in her court awareness and savvy use of her arm. She can score effectively in front and behind the setter with good arm control to move the ball around, with different pace, and through the deep zones of the court. She will be a key member for Bethlehem Academy’s offense this next fall and is worth a good look and evaluation through the high school season.

team in which their offensive strength is on their pins. However, she does her job well and is continuing to develop range in her offensive arsenal. At 5’11, by some standards, she may be considered undersized as a middle for the next level. However, she does make effective contributions on both sides of the ball. As she shows good timing and spacing in front of the setter, it is in her overhead work that has been showing more effectiveness as she continues to develop timing within this offense. Defensively, she shows good blocking mobility towards both pins. She will likely assume a bigger offensive role for Willmar this next high school season as they have a great ball control, which will allow for more middle production.

Ylinen has good all-around skills with a primary position as a setter. When she gets to her feet to the ball without compromising her body position too much she can deliver a great ball for her attackers through all offensive zones. Her footwork to pursue a pass off the net has great potential as she has shown good ability to be able to set both directions well when drawn off the net. One aspect that will improve her effectiveness is more patience in her preparation that could be more mindful, occur earlier, and has potential to eliminate wasted movement. This will improve her pursuit to the second contact with greater efficiency in her footwork and balance. As a lefty that is an added bonus to her game.

– 5’9 | OH | HS: St. Francis | Club: MVA 17 Elite | Prep Dig #157
A Mississippi 8 all-conference selection, Gully is an effective attacker from the left side. She has the ability to produce kills with good pace as she is aggressive with her arm swing at the peak of her jump. With average height and jump for the next level, she maximizes her attacking tools well. As she gets her feet to the ball well, with a more deliberate double-arm lift she will add some elevation and balance in the air that may also improve torque for more heat and range, which she has shown periodically in her mechanics. Look for her at St. Francis and to be a big part of the offensive load this next fall season.
