Not only in Macomb County, but all across the state Michigan Elite Volleyball has proven to be a force to be reckoned with, be it win, lose or draw.
Within that mix are several 15U teams looking to make names for themselves and at the top of that effort is the academies 15 Mizuno squad. Even though Michigan Elite Volleyball does have other 15U programs such as Elite and National West, only the Mizuno-level clubs train six hours a week in areas like speed, agility and position training according to Mielite.com.
Just because the current club season is up-in-the-air with no end in sight doesn’t mean Michigan Elite Volleyball 15 Mizuno wasn’t going places based on the skill-sets of athletes including…
KALLIANNE COOK
In her game film on Maxpreps.com this defensive specialist shows the ability to consistently excel on the serve. One reason for that is Cook puts a rather deceptive arc on the ball that has the potential to deceive those on the front line just as easily as pin a back court player against the out-of-bounds line. That leads to some less-than-confident returns that often end with this freshman charting yet another Ace. In club play this Birch Run High School member of the class of 2023 plays for Michigan Elite Volleyball 15 Mizuno.
AVA SARAFA
In prep competition Sarafa helped Marian in Bloomfield Hills win 42 of its’ 51 regular season games, including six of nine league contests, to earn a ranking of 11th in Michigan and 456th in the nation. Playing her club volleyball as number two, for the Mustangs this Setter wore number 11 and came through to the tune of 1,023 assists, 64 kills and 52 aces in 129 sets played.
REAGAN SASS
This Opposite, who is also listed as playing Middle Blocker and Outside Hitter, had quite the freshman effort for Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills in 2019-20. This included 113 kills, 72 triple-blocks, 15 blocks and eight aces. Currently she wears number 11 for Michigan Elite Volleyball 15 Mizuno despite donning number 14 for the Mustangs.
MEGAN GROSS
Even though her high school squad at St. Catherine of Siena Academy in Wixom came in with a record of 11-19 overall, 2-6 league, in 2019-20 to end up ranked 178th in the state and 5,557th nationally, this member of the class of 2023 still managed to find her way. To prove it in 81 sets played this Setter and Outside Hitter charted 193 kills, 140 digs, 135 assists and 33 aces, all while wearing jersey number one for the purple and gold.
ELLA SCHOMER
This Opposite takes the court as number 22 for Michigan Elite Volleyball 15 Mizuno currently, but during the high school season she plied her trade at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills. What that added up to in 2019-20 for this freshman was 27 kills, 13 triple-blocks and nine digs in just 28 sets played with the Mustangs, where she’s known as number 12.
As for Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy 15 National East, some names to know include Opposites Lexi Brown, Evelynn Rybicki and Mary Clare Hessburg, Outside Hitter Allysse Berger and Libero Kate Parambo.
