The blue division will return some next-level talent as Kearney returns Arizona State commit Andi Kreiling. Platte County will feature their do-everything star Bryn McGehe, who will attend the University of Kansas. They aren’t the only names you will know by the conclusion of the fall season. Let’s check out some of those players.
2021
Mayson Behney – S – Kearney High School
Behney should be starting the season as a 3-year starter for the Bulldogs. She is a workhorse! You will find her all over the court. She does a great job of running the offense and makes smart decisions. She has also taken swings from the right side to contribute to the kill category.
Aly Anderson – OH – Platte County High School
The junior is another player on the Platte County roster who can contribute in many areas. Primarily an outside in high school, she also is capable of setting as seen on the club scene. Last season Anderson finished the season with 198 kills, while hitting at a .276 clip. In the back-row she had 265 digs.
Presli Firkins – L/DS – Platte County High School
Firkins was an anchor behind the front-line in 2019. The Junior ended the year with 357 digs. She also proved stellar in serve/receive with 396 receptions. She will again be an important factor in the Pirates success in 2020.
Katie Kasten – MH – Smithville High School
Smithville should see more success in the win column this fall and Kasten will be a major reason. The 6’0″ junior had a solid junior season and will be hungry this year. Fans will see an increase in her numbers after having 145 kills and 64 blocks last season.
Juliana Luperico – OH – Winnetonka High School
The Griffins return enough pieces to improve on their 2019 season. One of those pieces will be Luperico. Last fall in her first full varsity season, Luperico had 84 kills from the outside. She also had 39 total blocks. We should expect both of those numbers to increase.
Dorianna Braxton – S – Winnetonka High School
Braxton returns as one of the setters for the fall campaign. In a 6-2 offense, the junior dished out 234 assist. She also had 137 digs and 37 aces on the season. We may see her kill numbers increase in 2020.
Nyah Cunningham – S – Winnetonka High School
Winnetonka had the luxury of two good setters last fall. Cunningham just missed the 200 assist mark with 198 on the year. She did add 122 digs. Her assist and dig numbers should rise in the upcoming season.
2022
Kate Brown Kate Brown 5'11" | MB Platte County | 2022 State MO – MH/OH – Platte County High School
The sophomore had a break-out season in 2019. This season look for her to be the star of the Pirates offense. Brown finished the season with 191 kills and added 22 blocks. She has shown the ability to get kills from the pins and the middle. She will give teams headaches for the next two years.
Isabella Reynolds – MH – Smithville High School
The Warriors will go as far as the before mention Kasten, and Reynolds go this fall. Last fall, she was second on the team in kills with 106. Those numbers will improve greatly this season. She also displayed an ability to play big at the net with 27 blocks.
