Caitlin Murphy Caitlin Murphy 5'7" | S Brownsburg | 2021 State IN , 5-7, S, Team Indiana Elite 18 (18-1), Brownsburg High School
A rare combination of foot speed, set location and elite defense, Caitlin is the only kid on this list playing up a year, and for good reason. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, underestimate her because of her size. She’ll beat you offensively as well as running her own offense, and is only getting better.
Atlantis Clendenin Atlantis Clendenin 5'9" | OH Parke Heritage | 2021 State IN , 5-9, OH, Circle City 17 Purple (17-1), Parke Heritage High School
Not too far from Terre Haute is the 1A school named Parke Heritage, who just started playing volleyball at the state level four years ago. Atlantis is a heavy-armed attacker that will go through you as much as she can go over you. She’s also got a wicked topspin serve that can go 12-6, curve ball, or even throw in a screw ball just to mess with the receivers. Once this kid figures out what she can do defensively, watch out.
Paris Downing Paris Downing 5'9" | MB Avon | 2021 State IN , 5-9, MB, Circle City 17 Purple (17-1), Avon High School
Avon is THE high school power west of Indianapolis. Paris, albeit under six feet, is continuing that solid tradition, and can play as either middle in any offense. It helps that she’s jumping at ten feet. She’s up, she’s fast and she’s ruthless. My kind of middle.
Delaney Needham Delaney Needham 5'6" | DS/L Avon | 2021 State IN , 5-5, DS, Circle City 16 Black (16-2), Avon High School
Here’s Avon again, this time with a solid DS that can play in any position and can wear the special jersey as well. Delaney is (obviously) young for her class, but can still carry the load in serve receive and run the defense like a seasoned veteran. My guess is that she’s underrecruited because of her playing down an age group. No matter, she’s arguably the best senior defender Avon has going into next fall.
Gracie Brackney Gracie Brackney 5'8" | OH Plainfield | 2021 State IN , 5-8, DS/OH, Team Indiana Elite 17 (17-1), Plainfield High School
Gracie plays six rotations in high school, but is primarily used as a DS on TI’s top 17s team. She’s already played in the toughest tournaments during this shortened club season, mostly as a three rotation DS, specifically middle back. If you want consistency, the ability to play any position, and a relentless worker, Gracie is your type of player.
