Delaney Garner Delaney Garner 6'1" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2021 State IN , ’21, 6-1, MB, Academy 17 Elite Tsunami, Hamilton Southeastern High School
The M2 on the top team at the Academy leads off our list. A big, area-eating middle who hits a heavy ball from in front of and behind the setter with ease. Her length also helps her get out of trouble, and has been in on more blocks than her opposite, Raven Colvin Raven Colvin 6'0" | MB Heritage Christian | 2021 State IN (Purdue recruit). Her transition is quick, too—Indiana has too many middles that are lazy in transition—and after a state finals appearance last fall, HSE should reload for this coming fall.
Delaney Bowser Delaney Bowser 5'9" | DS/L Mount Vernon (Fortville) | 2022 State IN , ’22, 5-9, DS, Academy 16 Elite Yeti, Mount Vernon High School
Primarily a three-rotation DS for the Yeti, Miss Bowser is fully capable of putting on the special jersey, and is expected to do so in the fall for MV. Currently a middle-back on defense, her ability to dig hard-driven balls and cover a ton of ground in minimal steps leads me to believe that she can handle left-back as well. I realize that DS is the last position colleges recruit, but in Delaney’s case, she should be one of the first to look at for this class.
Delaney Seaman Delaney Seaman 5'8" | S Brebeuf | 2023 State IN , ’23, 5-8, S, Munciana 15 Quora, Brebeuf Preparatory School
From a long line of setters in the Seaman family (two previous family members were starting setters at Ball State and Miami of Ohio, respectively), Delaney keeps the setting genetics going by being one of two setters in the 6-2 that the 15-1 team runs at Munciana. She gets to every ball and makes them hittable for her hitters. What more do you need?
Danielle Newport Danielle Newport 5'9" | OH Covenant Christian | 2023 State IN , ’23, 5-9, OH, Circle City 15 Black, Covenant Christian High School
We next take a look at the highest jumper on Circle’s 15-2 team. Miss Newport is long and lean, has a bunch of spring, and plays relentlessly. By now, her jump is most likely over 9’6″, and I look forward to her starting on CC’s varsity next fall.
Delaney Needham Delaney Needham 5'6" | DS/L Avon | 2021 State IN , ’21, 5-6, DS, Circle City 16 Black, Avon High School
Yes, you read that correctly. Miss Needham is a young junior, with the ability to lead a team’s defense with ease. Her no-nonsense, get-the-job-done attitude on the court is easily coachable, and I have yet to see her take a play off, regardless of the score. It will be interesting to see what is in store for the Orioles next fall, a team that is perennially in the mix for a state championship. I expect Delaney to be right in the mix of being either the starting libero or a regular three-rotation DS.
