Here are five underrated 7th Region opposites.
Anna Bluemeier: A junior opposite/outside hitter, Bluemeier is a student-athlete from tradition-rich Male High School. Bluemeier helped Male finish runner-up to state powerhouse Assumption in both the 26th District and 7th Region during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Versatile, Bluemeier is a productive hitter from the left side who has shown the ability to pass accurately and block regularly.
Cierra Chavez: Preparing to return to the floor as a junior in the 2020 high school volleyball season, Chavez competes for Ballard High School. Chavez is poised to take on a larger role for Ballard during her junior campaign. An athletic opposite, Chavez has produced as a setter, digs efficiently and blocks well both in tandem with middle hitters and individually.
Ellie Fox: A consistent contributor, Fox is a key player for Eastern High School. Fox appeared in each of Eastern’s 31 matches as a sophomore during the 2019 high school volleyball season, posting 80 kills, 27 blocks, 88 assists and 94 digs for the Eagles. Productive with diverse abilities, Fox excels on both offense and defense and possesses solid jumping skills.
Emily Ready: After chipping in as a sophomore, Ready is poised for her junior season at Assumption High School. An opposite/middle blocker, Ready contributed for Assumption during its latest state title run in 2019. Ready is slated to contribute more often for Assumption during the upcoming season. A player who has displayed solid hitting skills from the front and back rows, Ready digs for quick attacks routinely.
Sadie Supe: Prepared to earn more playing time at Seneca High School as a junior, Supe showed potential during her sophomore campaign. Supe contributed for Seneca in the 2019 high school volleyball season, which included the Redhawks finishing as the 27th District runner-up and making an appearance in the 7th Region Volleyball Tournament. Agile, Supe has thrived when setting and is aggressive hitting from the right side.
