Prep Dig Missouri focuses on the athletes on the Missouri side of this state line. The Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference houses many of the schools on the Missouri side, but not all of them. Here are some of the juniors and sophomores in the metro you should know outside of the GKCSC.
2022
Nina Mange – S – St, Pius X
Mange had a solid sophomore season for the Warriors. She paced the team with 498 assists on the year. She also contributed 109 digs from the back row.
Paige Edwards – OH – Pembroke Hill School
Pembroke Hill was a fairly young team in 2019 made up of some very talented sophomores and freshmen. Edwards will return on the outside in 2020. She finished the season with 144 kills and 80 digs. Look for her to be in the neighborhood of 200 kills this fall.
Sarah Lattan – MH – Pembroke Hill School
Another talented sophomore, Lattan showed great promise last season. She shined defensively with 74 total blocks. On the offensive end, she had 95 kills. We should see major gains in the kills department in 2020 to go along with another great year of defense.
Kyli Crowley – OH – Excelsior Springs
Crowley had a breakthrough sophomore season for Excelsior Springs. The outside hitter had 174 kills and 305 digs for the year. We can easily see her being a 300 kills and 300 digs player this fall.
Avery Beitzinger – MH/OH – Summit Christian Academy
A player who can play from the pins and middle, look for Beitzinger to break out her junior season. Last year, she had 112 kills on the year. A strong off-season should allow her to increase on her 28 blocks from last fall. She has great potential and should shine for Summit Christian.
Lorelei Culver – RS – Barstow School
2019 was a rebuilding season for Barstow after losing some major firepower in 2018. 2020 should show the fruits of their labor with the return of Culver. In her sophomore season, she had 199 kills on the year from the right side. She also displayed her ability to play in the back row, by having 174 digs. The Knights will go as far as Culver takes them this season.
2023
Reagan Fox – OH – St. Teresa’s Academy
Fox was one of many freshmen in the area to have impressive seasons in year one. On a team that featured many juniors and seniors, she contributed in a major way for the Stars. She had 119 kills last year. We should see those numbers increase in 2020.
Kennedy Smalley – S – Harrisonville High School
Harrisonville will return many key pieces in 2020. They should find success this season with the return of one of their setters, in Kennedy Smalley. In her first season, she showed versatility and the ability to contribute to the team in many facets. Her stat line in 2019: 235 assists, 108 kills, 158 digs.
Sydney Draper – S/RS – Pembroke Hill School
Another player that displayed her wide range of talent, Draper was a force in many roles in her first season. As a setter, she had 312 assists. As a hitter, how about 183 kills? Can she play defense? Sure, 217 digs from the back row. And for added measure, she also had 73 aces on the year. It’s almost certain this will be her only year on the “players to know” list.
Katie Hargroves – OH – Pembroke High School
The fourth underclassman to be mentioned for Pembroke Hill, Hargroves will see her numbers rise in 2020. She had 124 kills and 200 digs in her first season. She has shown the ability to play 6 rotations.
Sanoma Hunter – MH – Van Horn High School
Hunter is raw and new to the “competitive” side of volleyball. You can’t deny the potential in this promising athlete. Even though the club season was shortened, she benefited greatly from playing her first season with Club North. She caught our eye from the video we saw this spring. She will be one of the top 2023 players in the metro if she continues to develop and learn the game.
