Here are five 14th Region freshmen to watch.
Kloe Fugate: Versatile, Fugate worked her way onto the court for the Hazard varsity unit during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Early in her prep career, Fugate has shown the ability to make quick decisions and is expected to develop into a key player for 2019 54th District runner-up Hazard. Fugate is an accurate passer who has shown the ability to communicate well.
Jaia Griffith: Contributing for 54th District member Buckhorn during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Griffith appeared in a dozen of the Wildcats’ 35 matches. A setter who is developing into a vocal leader, Griffith identifies blockers regularly and runs offenses efficiently. Hard-working, Griffith delivers in multiple categories.
Sarah Moore: A defensive specialist, Moore appeared in 25 of 34 matches for 55th District runner-up Wolfe County during the 2019 high school volleyball season. A key contributor for Wolfe County as an eighth grader, Moore gained valuable varsity experience one season ago. Moore excels defensively and thrives as a back row hitter.
Kaylee Taulbee: Expected to contribute more for Jackson City as a freshman, Taulbee was on the Tigers’ varsity roster during the 2019 high school volleyball season. Athletic with a strong skillset, Taulbee has shown that she can dig consistently and flourish as a server for 55th District member Jackson City.
Macey Watts: After chipping in for June Buchanan as an eighth grader, Macey Watts is headed into her freshman season. A member of the 53rd District, June Buchanan concluded the 2019 high school volleyball season 13-11. Heading into the 2020 prep volleyball season, Watts, who can make an impact from various parts of the court, will take on a larger role for the Crusaders.
