Some may not be the stars of their teams, but their steadiness has impacted the culture of those programs. Here are our additions to the rock steady team.
Chelsea Gillespie – OH/DS/RS – Staley High School
Gillespie played in close to dozen sets her 1st season at Staley. In the last two years, she was a quiet contributor for the Falcons. She may not have the flashiest of stat lines, but her presence has been important. She is a player who can jump in and fill numerous roles as called upon. We have seen her play outside, right side, and defense in her first three seasons. She has really strong jumping ability standing only at 5’8″.
Aly Young – OH/DS – Fort Osage High School
Young has been an impact player on Fort Osage since her freshman season. She played in 55 sets that first year. Her second season saw her in action in only 27 sets but she bounced back for 71 in her junior campaign. In her career, she has 340 kills and 327 digs. She is a leader who looks to contribute as a defender on the next level.
Halli Martin – DS – Lee’s Summit North High School
Another player who was hampered by injury in her second season, Martin has had a solid career for the Broncos. In year one, she played in 61 sets with 123 digs. Her junior season, she bounced back and played in 47 sets and had over 100 digs. She will be a major factor for Lee’s Summit North as they look to compete in the strong Greater Kansas City Suburban Gold Division this fall.
Kennedy Wolf – DS – Pembroke Hill School
Wolf is a top defender in class 3 for Pembroke Hill. She has been in the lineup since her freshman season, in which she had 87 digs in 30 sets. Last fall she paced the team with 256 digs and 251 receptions. She will serve as a leader on a pretty young team in 2020.
Sophia Marchetti – OH/DS/L – Hillsboro High School
Marchetti contributed a tad her first season playing in 11 sets. She became a fixture in the back row during her second season playing in 75 sets and getting 415 digs. She has worked hard to become one of the premier defenders in class 4. Last fall, she added to her sophomore totals with 380 digs. She looks to have a strong final season for Hillsboro.
Taylor Golmen Taylor Golmen 5'11" | MB Nixa | 2021 State MO – MH/RS – Nixa High School
Golmen got a taste of varsity action early on playing in 10 sets in year one. The 5’10″ middle and right-side hitter was a major factor for Nixa in year two, hitting at a 41% clip and 153 kills. Last fall, she would get 263 kills in their state tournament run.
