Here’s a look at three All-State setters returning.
Lane Jenkins Lane Jenkins S Lafayette | 2021 State KY : A leader for Lafayette, Jenkins was named First Team All-State as a junior in 2019. Lafayette’s leader in assists, Jenkins helped the perennial title contender compile a 26-10 record during the 2019 prep volleyball season. A veteran player who has contributed for Lafayette throughout her prep career, Jenkins was named the 2019 Region 11 Player of the Year after pacing Lexington-based Lafayette during her junior campaign. Athletic and a vocal leader, Jenkins runs offenses efficiently while identifying blockers regularly.
Madison Roar: Thriving as a freshman for 16th Region title winner Rowan County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, Roar was named Honorable Mention All-State. Roar led Rowan County in assists in 2019. As a freshman, Roar recorded 757 assists, 211 digs, 85 kills, 64 service aces and 26 blocks for the Vikings. Roar was named the 2019 Region 16 Player of the Year. Versatile and reliable, Roar is an accurate passer who delivers digs consistently.
Elena Scott Elena Scott S Mercy | 2021 State KY : A leader for state title contender Mercy Academy, Scott was named First Team All-State in 2019. Scott excelled during the 2019 high school volleyball season, which ended with Mercy Academy finishing runner-up to state champion Assumption. Strong from start to finish in her junior campaign, Scott posted 995 assists, 377 digs, 78 service aces, 81 blocks and 188 kills. Scott was named the 2019 Region 6 Player of the Year. In addition, Scott was tabbed the 2019 Midway University/KHSAA Volleyball Female Student-Athlete of the Year. An excellent passer, Scott has shown the ability to direct offenses and make quick decisions on the court.
