Our tour of the top defenses in each division moves to Division 4 today.

A lot of experienced liberos return for the 2020 season, which should make from some strong defensive battles in the fall.

Here’s a look at the standout defensive units in Division 4 this year.


Mia Osorio

The Comets reached the Division 4 final last fall and will return the majority of their roster for 2020. Defensively, it won’t get much better than Leland this year. Mia Osorio has been the foundation of the defense for years and is coming off a First Team All-State season in 2019. Now, as one of many senior leaders, Osorio is ready to showcase her best season yet. Leland also has a lot of strong passing outsides in Olivia Lowe, Tatum Kareck and Jennifer Estrada. While the Eagles have to replace Gillian Grobbel in the middle, Sarah Elwell is still a talented returning option. Leland should be solid defensively all around this year.
