A good presence at the net is vital for teams willing to make deep runs in tournaments and these five schools will have some of the best in business at the Washington state Class 1B in the upcoming season.
Katie Kogler – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Firm Foundation Christian
Katie Kogler did all you would expect from an elite middle-blocker for Firm Foundation Christian in 2019 and some other things you wouldn’t, but she did particularly well in the main task of anyone who plays the position – blocking. The six-footer prospect roofed Eagles’ opponents on average once each set, ending the season with 79 stuffs. An All-State second team member, Kogler was on fire in the match that secured her team the seventh place at the State Championship, when she registered eight blocks against Providence Classical Christian.
Anna Williams – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Pateros
A volleyball and track and field student-athlete, Anna Williams combined the skills she learned in both sports to be a factor at the net for Pateros in 2019. The tallest player in the Nannies’ roster at 5’10”, the middle-blocker led her team to a State Championship run that ended after three matches with a strong net presence, which included effective blocking and prolific scoring. Her game was noticed by the Coaches’ Association, which selected her to the All-State second team.
Chantelle Isaacson – Outside Hitter – Junior – Three Rivers Christian
Chantelle Isaacson ranked first or second in virtually every skill for Three Rivers Christian during the 2019 season. The 5’7” outside hitter was extremely efficient in hitting, serving and digging, but she truly excelled with her blocking. As a sophomore, Isaacson led the Eagles’ efforts at the net, scoring 66 blocking points, to an average of 0.7 per set. She had a pair of seven-point blocking performances, against Columbia Christian and Naselle.
LeAnn Kincaid – Outside Hitter – Senior – Touchet
LeAnn Kincaid showed she could do a lot for Touchet during her junior season in 2019. The 5’9” outside hitter helped the Indians in every aspect of the game and proved to be a prolific scorer and a deadly server, but she also made her presence felt at the net with her blocks. A volleyball, basketball and softball student-athlete, Kincaid was the team’s leading blocker with 37, including 36 solos, and averaged nearly one per set (0.8).
Bridget Hitt – Middle-Blocker – Junior – Quilcene
Quilcene missed the State Championship for a second-straight season in 2019, but Bridget Hitt found the opportunity to shine in the midst of a tumultuous campaign. As a middle-blocker, the 5’8” prospect showed an interesting game at the net, registering 48 blockings points – seven more than in her sophomore year.
