There’s nothing like a solid left-handed setter running your offense. Meaghan Lawrence is exactly that, and would be a great fit in any 6-2 rotation. Playing for Pope John High School for the 2019 season, Lawrence totaled 63 aces, 130 digs, and 468 assists.
Lawrence has a powerful jump float that she can deliver line drive at the back row’s chests or pop short right to the 2 and 3 spots. Once the ball is in play, Lawrence is a terrific option to get the first touch on the ball. With her fast hands, she’s always able to send the ball to her libero on the ten foot line.
In or out of system, Lawrence is able to manipulate the ball beautifully. She can hide her decision until the last minute and has that soft touch that deadens even the most turbulent topspin.
While she’s most impactful in the back row and behind the service line, Lawrence keeps the opposing blockers honest wherever she is. Front row or back row, you’ll have to be wary of her sneaky setter dumps. She sends a clean ball to the deep corner 1 spot, a cut back to the 4, and a crisp swing to 5 with ease. This stud is definitely someone to look at when building your roster.
