Continue ReadingOver the weekend of August 1st I had the privilege of covering the PrepDig/Baden Pacific Northwest Invitational Training Camp. The camp was structured to bring the best athletes in Oregon and Southwest Washington into one facility and let them compete. With COVID-19 the opportunities for athletes to compete have been severely limited, so this was a great chance to get the best of the best in one place. While some players were not able to attend, the Courts were filled with forty-seven incredible volleyball players. Be on the lookout for content coming highlighting players in attendance.
Below are the setters who represented their class and position well at the camp.
Sydney Moltrum Sydney Moltrum 5'5" | S Camas | 2023 WA , 5’7″, S, Camas High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy
What makes Moltrum such a special player is her leadership. She runs the court with a great sense of calm confidence. She runs an incredibly fast offense, with many plays in her toolbox. Also, well-rounded she reads the attack well on defense and has a great jump float serve.

Moltrum had a breakout first season on Varsity for the Camas High School Papermakers. Setting a 6-2 for them, she helped them finish first in the league and seventh in the 4A State tournament. As a freshman, she was on the Junior Varsity team and received the Coach’s Award.
This past club season she set for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 16-1 National.
Caroline Hansen Caroline Hansen 5'9" | S Columbia River | 2022 WA , 5’9″, S, Columbia River High School, Excel NW
What makes Hansen such a special player is the intensity and enthusiasm she brings to the court. This intensity and enthusiasm she carries with her elevate the level of play on the court and the energy on the bench greatly. Attitude aside, she has a strong block and is a scrappy defender so she can easily set from both the front and back row.

Hansen had a stellar sophomore season for the Columbia River High School Chieftans, helping them secure a seventh-place finish in the 2A state tournament. Given her strong net play and high volleyball IQ, she set out of the front row for the Chieftans.
This past club season she ran a 6-2 for Excel NW 16-1 Rox.
Morgan Harter Morgan Harter 5'9" | S Ridgefield | 2022 WA , 5’9″, S, Ridgefield High School, Excel NW
What makes Harter such a special player is her consistency. A good decision-maker, she steps onto the court with the confidence to set up the right attackers at the right moment, consistently putting up a hittable ball. Though she has specialized as a setter, she has a wicked arm swing and is never afraid to swing at the ball.

Hartner had a solid season for the Ridgefield High School Spudders, helping them secure a 2A State Championship for the second year in a row. For her play, she was awarded Greater St. Helens 2A Honorable Mention.
This past club season she played for Excel NW 16-1 Rox, running a 6-2.
