Lexi is a high-flying hitter with some serious power. She is at 4.3 KPS, 16 blocks, 3.2 DPS, 17 aces with 96.5% serve efficiency 40 sets into this season. She is proving to be a great leader during her junior year and is expected to go far in the post-season.
Liz Carbaugh (2022, MH, Red Oak)
Liz is really long and lean and uses that to her advantage while blocking and hitting for the Tigers. She looked really good at this tournament and is definitely one to keep your eye on through the rest of her junior season. I expect the Tigers to go far in regional play at the end of the season. Liz has 2.2 KPS and 23 total blocks so far this season.
Zoe Rus Zoe Rus 5'10" | OH Underwood | 2021 State IA (2021, OH, Underwood)
Zoe is a 6’ outside for the Eagles and is a really powerful hitter. She has 2.1 KPS, 12 blocks, and 43 aces so far this season.
Lennon O’Neal (2022, RS, Red Oak)
I have not written about Lennon before but she is impressive from the right side. She only has 1 KPS so far this season, 23 total blocks, and 21 aces.
Tory Carrick (2022, RS, Red Oak)
It is great when you see a player you have watched for years coming into her own, and Tory has been a good player for years but is now turning into a great one. She is at 1.5 KPS, 5 total blocks, 3.0 DPS, and 18 aces with a 93% serve efficiency.
Elizabeth Elkins Elizabeth Elkins 5'9" | OH Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA (2021, OH/MH, St.Albert)
That is right, Elizabeth has been playing middle for a large portion of this season so I added the slash and the MH to her positional description. She looks good on the court whatever position she is playing although probably more deadly on the outside and really helpful in the back row. She is such a versatile player she can really play anywhere on the court.
Mia Allmon (2022, RS, St.Albert)
Mia has been getting some court time recently for the Saintes and looked pretty good at this tournament hitting on the outside and the right. She is known for surprising opponents because they are not used to seeing her much on the varsity court. When she does come in though you can count on her to get a kill or two with her off-speed, staggered hitting style. She is kind of a secret weapon who may be a major player in her senior season next year.
Macy Vanfossan Macy Vanfossan OH Underwood | 2021 State IA (2021, OH, Underwood)
Macy is fantastic. She is hitting 3.5 KPS, with 8 total blocks, 3.4 DPS, and 46 aces with 88.1% serve efficiency. She is one of the most effective hitters in the state and her team should really get a chance to go far this season and possibly all the way to state.
Delaney Ambrose (2023, MH, Underwood)
Delaney is a really good blocker and hitter. She has 1.2 KPS, 10 blocks, .8 DPS, and 7 aces so far this season. She has an opportunity to be effective for years yet for the Eagles.
Allie Petry Allie Petry 5'7" | DS/L Council Bluffs St. Albert | 2021 State IA (2021, OH, St.Albert)
Allie is one of the best hitters I have seen in the state of Iowa. Aside from that, she is truly one of the best defensive players I have seen as well. Her stats are impressive with 4.1 KPS, 8 total blocks, 2.8 DPS, and 22 aces with 79.2% serve efficiency. She is integral to her team’s success and is a joy to watch play.
Emile Sorenson (2023, OH, Tri-Center)
I have not seen Emile play before this tournament and was impressed with her abilities at this event. She has 1.3 KPS, 5 total blocks, .6 DPS, and 2 aces. It will be wonderful to watch her continue to develop and strengthen her team who had an early-season loss due to the injury of their best hitter.
Lainey Sheffield (2022, OH/RS, St.Albert)
Lainey is normally a right-side hitter but has transitioned to outside this season. She looked good at this tournament getting her team critical points when necessary to keep them in the fight. Her stats this year are 1.5 KPS, 10 total blocks, 1.1 DPS, and 7 aces with a 94.2% serve efficiency.
Lauren Williams (2022, MH/RS, St. Albert)
Lauren is a great right side and middle hitter for St. Albert. Her stats are 2.8 KPS, 24 total blocks, and 2 aces so far this season. She is vital to her team’s success and has been on fire recently for the Saintes. She is one of the best right-side or middle hitters I have seen this season.
