Continue ReadingWe are back to turn our attention to the 2022 uncommitted players of the State. These 2022 players have been working extremely hard with their school teams to showcase their skills and trying their best to win as many games as possible. Their goal is to go as far as they can in the playoffs and chase the dream of hoisting a trophy. Each of these young ladies should be commended for their hard work and determination despite all of what has gone on over the last couple of months. I love their drive and competitive spirit. The 2022 class is littered with amazing athletes and most of them are getting some great looks from colleges. We love covering them and helping get exposure for each of them. If you are a college coach reading this, look no further and give each of these kids some time. You won’t regret it.
Rosemary Archer Rosemary Archer 6'0" | S Lovejoy | 2022 State #35 Nation TX [2022] 6-0 Setter/Right Side (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Texas Advantage/Verbal: Pepperdine)
Miss Archer is currently the 39th ranked prospect in the State of Texas according to our Prep Dig State Rankings list. We are looking forward to seeing where she moves once we update next month. Earlier in the spring we wrote an article on her and here is a little of what we said about her, “Rosemary is a very gifted setter from two highly touted volleyball programs in north Texas. She plays at powerhouse high school Lovejoy and the prestigious TAV club out of Dallas. She has trained under some amazing technical trainers in her career and it shows. She has been blessed with a body frame that is tailor made for a setter. At six foot tall and having very lengthy arms, she is a coach’s dream to have as a floor general. If you mix her height with her ability to jump set her hitters, you are left with a recipe for offensive dominance. She has great location on her pin sets both in system and out of system. She is able to hit her target very consistently. While setting out of system, she loves to go against flow to keep the other team off-balance and put her hitters in a one on one situation. She is the type of setter that makes an average hitter look great because of her quick footwork getting to the ball and being in a great position to set the ball. She will be scooped up very quickly.” We are proud to report that a very great program has scooped her up. She will be playing for Pepperdine University in two years. She will no doubt be an asset to the Pepperdine program as she has led her Lovejoy high school team to a State Title last year and they are on their way to another deep run in the Texas State Playoffs this year.
Kylie Campbell Kylie Campbell 5'11" | OH Westlake | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-11 Outside (HS: Westlake/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Campbell is currently ranked as the 50th top prospect in the state according to our Prep Dig State Rankings List. We wrote an article on her earlier in the spring and said the following, ”Kylie is a decorated outside hitter who recently made the All Tournament team at the USAV Nationals in 2019. She is a lengthy pin hitter who is a true six-rotation player for her Austin Juniors program. She has a whip of an arm that allows her to hit with a lot of power. She is very capable of hitting both line and angle on or off the net. Her hand contact is where her offense shines. She is able to increase her spin rate on the ball by snapping her wrist so fast. Her club team utilizes her out of the back row in the offense as well which showcases her well rounded offensive abilities. She showcases great vision as a hitter as she looks at the block prior to attacking. With more training, she is on a great track to being able to play at the next level. I’m looking forward to seeing her progress throughout her career.” We have been able to watch even more video on her and she showcases some amazing ball control out of serve receive and defense. She is lights out and always delivers a great ball to her setter out of first contact. The biggest reason for this is how she moves on the court with her lower body. Kylie is gifted with great range and is extremely athletic while tracking the ball.
Audrey Ajakaye Audrey Ajakaye 5'9" | OH The Village School | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-9 Outside (HS: The Village School/Club: Texas Tornados/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Ajakaye is currently ranked as the 56th top prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Our article on her in the spring we mentioned, “Audrey is slightly smaller than her counterparts on the left side, but she makes up for that with her great jumping ability. She loads up very well with strong lower body leg work. She is still able to get her hands way above the net in order to block and she also contacts the ball very high to score at a good clip. She is a very versatile players who plays on the pins and also contributes to her club program by playing out of the middle also. She has great footwork to patrol the net and is very quick off of the ground for all quick attacks. One thing I really like about her is her ability to receive serve. She has great upper body control, super fast feet and is also able to use her large hands for emergency techniques passing high balls with her hands.” Audrey has also been putting in work during the summer and fall to continue to improve her game and take it to the next level. She is working on her explosive last two steps, which help her approach to attack so well. She has some of the quickest last two steps I have seen in a while. What I love about her now is how hard she is working on her entire game and coaches will see that on video if they take a look at her recruiting profiles that she updates constantly. If there are any schools that want a scholarly player, then look no further. She is looking for a school that is highly selective both athletically and academically where she wants to study pre-med.
Gabrielle Johnson Gabrielle Johnson 6'1" | MB FB Austin | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Fort Bend Austin/Club: Texas Tornados/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Johnson is currently ranked as the 66th top prospect in the state according to our Prep Dig State Rankings in the 2022 class. Our previous article on Gabby said the following, “Gabrielle has great length for her position. Her long arms allow her to patrol the net with force. She unleashes amazing power for her southwest Houston area high school team out of the middle. She is able to get her hands well above the net to challenge any attack on the other side of the net. If you are looking for a stopper that can be trained and give your program a good presence in the middle, look no further and put this kid on your short list. She is under the great tutelage of a great club director JoEllen Saulsberry out of northwest Houston and she will have her college ready in a few years. Gabrielle’s arm swing is extremely fast for a young player and she approaches her setter with tenacity to hit the quick sets at a fast tempo right out of her hand. I think she will be a valuable asset to a college program in a few years.” Gabby has been in beast mode lately during the high school season. She recently hitting at a .700 clip while patrolling the net and stopping rivals during district play. She has also been named Girls Athlete of the week for the Houston Chronicle last week as she amassed 21 kills, numerous digs, and tons of blocks in two matches last week. She is improving and that should worry everyone in the class. We are watching very closely and it looks as if she will be doing some moving once I update the rankings next month. Stay tuned
