Continue ReadingThe timelines for recruiting have been adjusted, either through the governing bodies of the NCAA or even in general with some college coaches, specifically, Division 1, who haven’t been able to evaluate a live event since March. There are plenty of 2022’s in Iowa that have been on the radar since they’ve touched the court. Others, who are still rising, getting the chance to standout and build plenty of momentum during their high school season and into club. Here are a few you have to keep tabs on with the state tournament being a month away!
Kaebre Sullivan Kaebre Sullivan 6'1" | MB Osage | 2022 State IA – Osage – CIA
Sullivan has always been extremely steady whether she is on the hardcourt or the sand. Sullivan and her beach partner Meredith Street Meredith Street 5'5" | OH Osage | 2022 State IA of Osage were extremely dominant all summer. Sullivan’s skill set includes her ability to get from pin to pin and transition to be available to score points. She has been well trained and is accustomed to playing at a high level for her high school and club teams.
Samantha Schroeder Samantha Schroeder 6'2" | MB Dowling | 2022 State IA – Dowling Catholic – Club Ignit
Schroeder plays on the deepest team in the state, they also happen to be number one currently in Class 5A. The progression of Schroeder has been impressive since this past club season where she is long, can contact and block at a high point, and can hit a variety of tempos. Her ability to play at a high level was apparent as she went against some of the best attackers in the country enroute to Club Ignit’s Triple Crown title. She is bound for a breakout club season.
Gabbie Schroeder Gabbie Schroeder 5'7" | DS/L Iowa City Liberty | 2022 State IA – Iowa City Liberty – Iowa Rockets
Schroder has been rock solid for Iowa Rockets the past two years as a libero and is part of quite a defensive combo with Drake commit Addie Schmierer for Iowa City Liberty who is currently ranked 7th in Class 5A. Schroeder has this relaxed disposition in the backrow. Extremely under control with her platform and is so steady and dependable in serve receive.
Carly Puffer Carly Puffer 6'0" | MB Wilton | 2022 State IA – Wilton – Iowa Rockets
Puffer has had a major impact on Wilton’s undefeated season so far. However, this group has their eyes on the prize to be playing a month from now. She has been a great combo with fellow club teammate Ella Caffery Ella Caffery 5'9" | S Wilton | 2022 State IA who has taken control of the setter position and is the director of a high powered offense. Puffer is extremely physical and makes a huge presence offensively and defensively which results in plenty of positive points for her side of the net.
Olivia Hogan – Beckman – CIA (Title Photo)
I was extremely impressed with Hogan at the Mount Vernon Shirley Ryan Invite. Great court awareness, solid in serve receive, and makes the efficient movement needed to look a difficult play look easy. Extreme diving by a libero can sometimes be a little bit “smoke in mirrors” that is a cover up for lack of anticipation or poor footwork – not Hogan. She’s under control, she is high IQ, and one you want on your team.

Anisia Smith Anisia Smith 5'9" | MB Cedar Falls | 2022 State IA – Cedar Falls – CIA
Cedar Falls was supposed to be in a rebuilding phase with plenty of key seniors who graduated from their state championship team in 2019. Great programs reload, they don’t rebuild. Smith has been a huge part of maintaining the tradition for the Tigers where she is second on the team in kills and is hitting .334 from the pin. Smith was at some of our Prep Dig Events last winter and you saw the potential and flashes of success she was bound to have.
Alexis Johnson Alexis Johnson 5'6" | RS Red Oak | 2022 State IA – Red Oak
Red Oak has had quite the year for sports advancing to the state tournament for volleyball and basketball. They will be looking to get back and a big part of that is Alexis Johnson Alexis Johnson 5'6" | RS Red Oak | 2022 State IA . The top attacker for the Tigers who have already had a big win over a top five ranked in Class 4A Glenwood team. Johnson and her teammates know how to close and can come in big in the clutch in those big matches. Look for them to make another push to Cedar Rapids.
Emma Byker – Unity Christian
Byker was a key part of Unity’s state tournament appearance last year running the show as a setter and is back for her Junior season, looking to lead the Knights back to Cedar Rapids. She is averaging over nine assists per set for one of the top offenses in Class 3A. Northwest Iowa is always a gauntlet when it comes to a deep post season run, but Byker and her teammates know what it takes to play at a high level.
Jewell Bergstrom – Boyden-Hull
Down the road in Sioux County is Boyden-Hull who is looking to break through to the state tournament as well. Bergstrom is another top setter who has been piling up the assists this season with nearly 400 on the season. The only Iowa losses that Boyden-Hull has suffered has been to other Sioux County powers. They don’t have to travel for to see top competition which will be key on their regional road.
