High school volleyball squads from throughout the 1st Region will enter the postseason in less than two weeks. Prep volleyball squads across the 1st Region will compete in district tournaments later in the month.
Here are four 1st Region sophomore middles to watch.
Lillian Burnett: A Christian Fellowship middle blocker, Burnett is a longtime leader. Through 15 matches in the 2020 high school volleyball season, Burnett has recorded 127 kills, 45 blocks, 30 assists, 155 digs and 25 service aces. The productive Burnett leads Christian Fellowship in blocks and digs and is one of the most underrated players in the Region 1.
Ally Dietsch: A Carlisle County sophomore middle blocker, Dietsch has developed into a leader. Through 11 matches, Dietsch has recorded 38 kills and 13 blocks for Carlisle County. Dietsch leads 1st District member Carlisle County in blocks and has shown the ability to deliver as a strong hitter during her sophomore campaign.
Coridia Hood: A Murray sophomore middle blocker, Hood is producing regularly in the 2020 high school volleyball season. Through 13 matches, Hood has recorded 71 kills and 26 blocks for the Tigers. A consistent high school volleyball player who delivers along the middle of the net, Hood leads Murray in kills and blocks.
Avery Thompson: A Graves County sophomore middle blocker, Thompson is among her high school team’s leaders. In 15 matches, Thompson has posted 33 kills, 26 blocks and 50 digs for the Eagles. Thompson leads 2019 1st Region Runner-up Graves County in blocks.
