I have loved being able to see so many teams and players at our Prep Dig tournaments the last couple months.  I have enjoyed seeing so many talented players, and everyone loves to rave about the hitters, but I am so impressed with some really amazing athletes who run the court and do it all to set their teams up for victory.  Let’s take a look at these great setters!

Aspen JankowskiAspenJankowskiOHCedarburg | 2022StateWI – 2022 – 5’9 – Cedarburg (Committed to Arkansas Tech)

Jankowski is full of surprises.  Last year playing as an outside hitter for Cedarburg, she led the Bulldogs with 246 kills, 43 aces, had a serve efficiency of 90%, 40 total blocks, and 231 digs.  Jankowski is running a 6-2 with Autumn DauteAutumnDaute5'5" | SCedarburg | 2022StateWI (2022 – 5’9) and is still leading her team with 109 kills so far while setting up Emma Grueneberg (2022 – 6’0 – Middle Blocker), Daute, Kaleigh Pelikan (2022 – 6’0 – Middle Blocker)Maddie Klumpyan (2023 – Pin Hitter), and Juliana Napoleon (2022 – 5’11 – Pin Hitter). This player is an all-around great athlete who is showing how versatile she really is this fall.

She is smooth as silk and super fun to watch feeding a roster full of terminators.  Bolwerk is the real deal, and her team is no joke.  In fact, I bet a lot of teams are relieved not to have to get past them in the post season this fall.   Brooklyn MontgomeryBrooklynMontgomery5'5" | OHMosinee | 2021StateWI – 2021 – 5’7 - Mosinee  I have enjoyed watching Montgomery develop as a player the last couple years, and she just keeps getting better.  She is one of the top hitters in the Great Northern Conference, but she is also responsible for setting studs Abbi Martin (2022 – 5’11 – Middle Blocker) and Jessica Maurer (2022 – 5’5 – Setter/Outside Hitter).  Last year Montgomery had 530 assists, 214 digs, 244 kills, and was the best overall server for her team with a serve efficiency of 88% and 94 aces.    Brylee Leverenz – 2024 – Waukesha West  I have no prior stats on Leverenz since she is a freshman, but she is super smooth and exactly what the Wolverines needed.  She is currently running a 6-2 with Sophia Busse (2022 – 5’8), and together,  they are feeding the heavy arms of Alexis BolingAlexisBoling6'0" | MBWaukesha West | 2021StateWI (2021 – 6’0 – Pin Hitter), Abby Friegen (2021 – 5’7 – Pin Hitter), Emma Larson (2021 – 5’8 – Pin Hitter), and Devon Hanson (2022 – 6’1 – Middle Blocker).  Leverenz is definitely on my watch list, and I expect to see some great things from her in the future!  Jessica Maurer Jessica Maurer – 2022 – 5’5 - Mosinee  Mosinee pin hitter/defensive specialist, Maurer, is taking on a whole new role this fall as a setter.  She is creative, intelligent, and super scrappy, making her a real impact player.  She is setting up Brooklyn MontgomeryBrooklynMontgomery5'5" | OHMosinee | 2021StateWI (2021 – 5’7 – Setter/Outside Hitter), Emily Wicklund (2021 – 5’8 - Pin Hitter), and Jenna Placek (2022 – 5’8 – Middle Blocker).   Josie Halbeib – 2021 – 6’1 - Howards Grove (Committed To Kansas State)  Wow, Halbeib is great!  That really doesn’t seem like enough to say about this particular setter.  Halbeib is terrific.  That may not cover her either, but with all of the weapons available at Howard’s Grove, she finds a way into the lineup after previous seasons of running the court for Sun Prairie.
