First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
District 1B Columbia River went down one high school from five to four, but will remain as competitive as ever, and their best three players are:
Katie Kogler– Middle-Blocker – Senior – Firm Foundation
Katie Kogler was the best player in the best team in the district last season as Firm Foundation won all of its eight matches in 2019 while dropping only two sets mostly because of her strong game. The six-foot middle-blocker remained at her typically excellent form for a third-straight season, leading the Lady Eagles in kills (389, more than all of her teammates combined), blocks (79) and aces (56). Kogler’s exceptional performances certainly didn’t go unnoticed as she was included in the All-State second team and was awarded as the district’s Most Valuable Player.
Pervie Reed – Libero – Junior – Three Rivers Christian
Three Rivers Christian was the only team in the district to challenge Firm Foundation’s dominance by taking two sets and almost a match from their rivals. Part of their success was built upon a solid defensive game that highlighted Pervie Reed’s importance for the Eagles. The second-year libero delivered in great style leading the team in digs with 394, but also adding 64 aces. The 5’2” was part of the All-State team as an honorable mention and made it to the All-League first team.
Kylee Tarabochia – Outside Hitter – Senior – Naselle
Kylee Tarabochia made a big impact on Naselle’s 2019 campaign with a solid all-around game. The 5’8” outside hitter helped the Comets winning half of their eight district matches by offering significant contribution in several areas of the game as she ended the season with 76 kills, 57 aces, 81 digs and 220 passes to her name. That level of performance earned her an All-State team honorable mention and a spot in the All-League first team.
