First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The west portion of the 1B Southeast District features six high schools and their three best players are:
LeAnn Kincaid – Outside Hitter – Senior – Touchet
LeAnn Kincaid was Touchet’s most influential player during last season’s campaign as the 5’9” outside hitter was the Indians’ best player in a variety of skills. Kincaid led the team’s offense with 48 kills, but also stood out on blocking with a team-high 37 points. She was near the top in every other meaningful skill as well, ranking second in aces (39), passes (209) and digs (149).
Maddie Wahl – Middle-Blocker – Junior – DeSales
Maddie Wahl was an important part of a DeSales’ strong trio last season that also featured senior setter Emily Ness and freshman outside hitter Tayle’ Mooney. The 5’9” middle-blocker had a lot to offer to the Irish last season, most notably her strong hitting and blocking skills at the net, but was also effective from the service line and decent on defense. Her all-around game makes it possible for her to play as an outside hitter as well.
Jenna Andringa – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Sunnyside Christian
Jenna Andringa is another middle-blocker set to make a huge impact in the district next season, replicating what she did for Sunnyside Christian in 2019. The 5’11” prospect used her size well to be a factor for the Knights, being the team’s focal point on offense and also a steady blocking presence at the net. In her last year of high school, she seems poised to show even more.
