Five different states are represented in the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball program’s latest recruiting class.
A look at the three in-state signees for the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball program follows.
Anslee Hopewell is a 5-7 defensive specialist from Owensboro. A standout player for Apollo in each of the last four seasons, Hopewell amassed 80 service aces in 2019. Finishing her prep career strong in 2020, Hopewell accumulated the highest percentage of digs for her team. As a senior, Hopewell posted 389 digs, 63 service aces, 53 assists and 20 kills in 23 matches. Versatile, Hopewell has shown the ability to lead from both the back row and the front row.
Julia Kupper is a 5-7 setter from Louisville. An experienced player, Kupper helped tradition-rich Sacred Heart capture back-to-back 27th District Championships in 2019 and 2020. Thriving on the court, Kupper compiled 175 assists, 48 digs and 19 service aces in 22 matches for Sacred Heart during her senior season. A vocal leader, Kupper is an accurate passer.
Danielle Nelson is a 5-4 defensive specialist from Elizabethtown. Nelson helped to lead Central Hardin to a 17th District Championship during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Excelling throughout her senior campaign, Nelson recorded 178 digs, 32 service aces and 11 assists in 25 matches as Central Hardin finished runner-up to rival Elizabethtown in the 5th Region. Nelson delivers consistently as a back row hitter and digs and pursues well.
