Continue ReadingIn the 9 am first round matchup of #2 Norris and #7 Aurora at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the Titans prevailed with the sweep 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20. The Huskies did not go down without a fight as their floor defense was relentless all match. The Titans outhit the Huskies 45 kills to 26 kills respectively. Both sides of the floor had some long rallies with great ball control by both sides. This game was a rematch from the first game of the season when the Titans traveled to Aurora for a Triangular with Wahoo and the Huskies. The Titans won the match 25-18 and 25-16.
The Titans balanced attack kept the Huskies on their toes and despite the Titans kills seemed to get a hand on everything. Aurora was led by lefty 5’9″ senior College of St. Mary’s commit Kassidy Hudson Kassidy Hudson 5'8" | RS Aurora | 2021 State NE with nine kills. Jaylee Schuster had six kills respectively in the loss. Schuster jumps well and is so powerful with her swing. She also had some great roll shots to throw off the Titans defense. Aurora’s Cassidy Knust had 22 digs in the loss and did a great job in serve receive. She read the Titan hitters as well. She does a nice job of leading the Huskies in the back row, verbally and by her play.
Husker commit Maisie Boesiger Maisie Boesiger 5'5" | S Norris | 2022 State #198 Nation NE did a top notch job of distributing the ball all across the net. Her volleyball IQ is second to none and she does a great job of finding open spots on the floor as she had 36 set assists, 4 kills, 13 digs and 1 ace serve. Junior Ella Waters Ella Waters 6'3" | OH Norris | 2022 State NE led all hitters with 16 kills in the match and 4 solo blocks. Wayne State commit Kalli Kroeker had 9 kills and 2 solo blocks and junior Sydney Jelinek Sydney Jelinek 5'10" | OH Norris | 2022 State NE chipped in with 7 kills in the win. Kansas State Commit Libero Molly Ramsey had 25 digs, 5 set assists and 1 ace serve in the win. A player to keep on your radar is 5’4″ freshman Alivia Hausmann Alivia Hausmann 5'5" | DS/L Norris | 2024 State NE who played DS this year. She had 16 digs and 2 set assists in the win. She does a nice job playing right back defense and stepping in to set when needed.
The Aurora Huskies end the year with a 22-14 record and the 28-4 Titans will face 23-9 Elkhorn in the Semi-Final match on Friday at approximately 9pm at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
