It is understandable that this list could see major changes before this class graduates, but the 50 student-athletes that made the list contributed to their respective school’s varsity squads. Some of those players started in 2020 because they are at small schools and therefore heavily leaned on.
Here is a look at five players ranked in the Top 50 who play for schools in Class 3A or below.
OH, Kinsey Perine Kinsey Perine 5'6" | OH Rossville | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, Rossville (’24 Ranked No. 22) – Perine is the first of two Rossville Bulldogs who made the initial rankings. Perine led Rossville with 263 kills to go along with 214 digs. She projects as a solid Division II talent and has a bright future as do the Bulldogs.
OH, Alexis Bittner Alexis Bittner 5'7" | RS Cheney | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, Rossville (’24 Ranked No. 24) – Bittner also had a productive freshman season for Rossville. The outside hitter finished the 2020 campaign with 202 kills and 226 digs. She will form a one-two punch with Perine for the foreseeable future.
DS, Maggie Toerber Maggie Toerber 5'9" | DS/L Valley Heights | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, Valley Heights (’24 Ranked No. 28) – The Valley Heights Mustangs won 31 matches in 2020 in part to the success of freshman Toerber. She can play multiple positions which makes her recruitable for teams with multiple needs. It should be a treat to watch her grow as a player.
MB, Karoline Schroeder Karoline Schroeder 5'6" | MB Wheatland-Grinnell | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, Wheatland-Grinnell (’24 Ranked No. 30) – Schroeder is a talent that Western Kansas colleges need to put on their scouting radar. The freshman middle blocker had a solid season for the Thunderhawks. She finished the 2020 season with 169 kills and 37 blocks.
OH, Alaina Eck Alaina Eck 5'4" | OH Little River | 2024 State KS , 5’4”, Little River (’24 Ranked No. 50) – Heck is an interesting talent. She is a two-sport athlete and basketball might well be where her future lies, but after watching her play in person in 2020 she is deserving of being included in the initial rankings. She can jump and she is an athlete to not sleep on.
